SEOUL, Jul. 17 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics has once again demonstrated its dominance in the audio-visual technology sector, securing 16 awards at the highly respected Visual Grand Prix (VGP) 2024 Summer Awards in Japan.

The company announced its impressive haul on July 16, highlighting the recognition received by its TV and monitor products.

The VGP Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of Japan’s audio-visual industry, are organized by Ongen Publishing, the country’s most authoritative AV media outlet.

The awards are divided into special and category-specific sections, with winners selected by a panel of AV experts and electronics store dealers based on technological prowess and consumer satisfaction.

LG’s OLED evo series (M3, G4, and C4) received particular acclaim, earning the Judges’ Special Award. The series also clinched Gold Awards in the 70-80 inch, 60-70 inch, and under 45-inch OLED TV categories.

Takashi Iwai, a VGP judge, praised LG’s OLED TVs for “pioneering the future of OLED” and noted the enhanced picture quality, color balance, and contrast ratio achieved through LG’s new AI processor.

Introduced last year, the LG Signature OLED M, the world’s first wireless OLED TV, was honored with the Planning Award. The VGP committee commended LG’s unique OLED technology that enables wireless transmission of 4K high-definition video.

In the gaming sector, LG’s UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitors swept the Gold Awards across all sizes in the gaming monitor category and received the Gaming Grand Prix in the special award section.

LG’s success extended beyond televisions and monitors, with products such as the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1, 14-inch LG Gram, and LG MyView smart monitor also receiving accolades.

The OLED evo was further recognized as the best OLED TV in the under 50-inch category at the “Best Buy Summer Award 2024″ by HiVi, another influential Japanese AV magazine.

These accolades are particularly significant given Japan’s reputation as a challenging market for foreign brands and its high preference for OLED technology in the premium TV sector.

According to market research firm Omdia, OLED TVs accounted for about 25% of TV sales in Japan last year, more than double the global average.

Son Sung-joo, head of LG Electronics’ Japan office, emphasized the importance of these awards, stating, “This recognition in the discerning Japanese market underscores LG Electronics’ solid OLED technology leadership.

We will continue to captivate Japanese consumers with the differentiated viewing experience offered by LG OLED TVs.”
