On Tuesday 16 July, Tabreed’s CEO, Khalid Abdulla Al Marzooqi, was proud to host a special, international delegation organised by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and under the framework of the Cool Coalition, as part of a three-day technical visit and workshop series on district cooling. The day started with a visit to Department of Energy Abu Dhabi, where the group learned about regulation of the district cooling sector and how it helps governments work towards achieving net-zero targets, while setting standards of service that benefit suppliers and customers alike. This was followed by presentations made by Tabreed’s Chief Operating Officer, Antonio Di Cecca, who spoke about our world-leading initiatives with geothermal energy and nanofluid technology, and Chief Development Officer, Philippe Coquelle, who explained in detail how district cooling works, the benefits it offers and the commercial structures available to developers. The group then took a guided tour of our plant on Al Maryah Island, which supplies that entire district with sustainable and essential cooling. Delegates represented Tunisia, Morocco and Pakistan, and the visit provided extensive opportunities to forge long-lasting relationships and collaborations, with Tabreed’s renowned experts sharing their unrivalled experience and expertise in this vitally important industry. #Districtcooling #Sustainability #netzero #Leadership

Last week, Tabreed was proud to sponsor and participate in the 3rd Asia Pacific Urban Energy Association (APUEA) in Bangkok, Thailand. The event hosted public and private sector professionals, including utilities, government officials, policymakers, developers, consultants, investors, international organisations and universities. Under the theme 'Towards a Net Zero Future in the Asia-Pacific', the programme explored how District Energy systems can be an important tool to address the growing cooling demand in the Asia Pacific region, so naturally Tabreed, being the world's leading District Cooling company, saw this as a perfect fit.   Members of Tabreed's senior management – Philippe Coquelle, Colin Sangster and Sudheer Perla, showcased the company's commitment to advancing sustainable cooling technologies, directly addressing the region's key legislators and developers, highlighting the crucial role of district cooling in enhancing urban sustainability and combating climate change. Egypt remains a vitally important market for Tabreed, the country’s potential for increased uptake of district cooling being so far practically untapped. Our Chief Development Officer, Philippe Coquelle, spoke at length in a keynote address during last week’s Big 5 Construct Egypt, entitled ‘The Role of District Cooling in Sustainable Cities’. He explained why developers should seriously consider incorporating district cooling at the earliest stages when planning new urban environments, as an essential part of responsible and sustainable development. Being able to directly address Egypt’s movers and shakers in construction was an opportunity too good to miss and we look forward to expanding our business portfolio in this vibrant, exciting and forward-looking country. It's been a busy week for Tabreed as we were proud to sponsor, and participate in, Big 5 Construct Egypt, the country's premier construction event.
