It was such a great day out at the JobSkills Expo on Tuesday. We had our wonderful apprentices manning our booth demonstrating their skills and sharing insights into their experiences working at AGL Loy Yang. It was great to see so many Gippsland students engaged and interested in exploring a trade in the energy sector. Thanks to Baw Baw Latrobe Local Learning & Employment Network for hosting another amazing event again this year. #locallearning #engagement #gippsland

As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, and the successes and achievements of so many people who live with disability, we’re proud to share a story of one of our own team members. Bond.. Ashok Bondili life changed forever back in 2020 when he had a catastrophic fall while cleaning the gutters on his roof, leaving Ashok a father of two, with life-changing injuries.    It was a long, hard-fought road back to recovery for Ashok, one of our Digital Technology Engineering Testers. Through his personal resilience and the collective support of family, friends, and colleagues at AGL Ashok returned to work this year following some workplace adjustments and a well-supported Return to Work plan.    “I was welcomed with open arms and warm smiles. I’m grateful for the support from everyone at AGL, my rehab team, the hospital, the team at JobAccess, and of course, my family,” said Ashok.    Thank you, Ashok, for your continued contribution to AGL, and to your teammates in supporting you and helping to make AGL one of Australia’s best places to work.    Read more about our commitment to creating and fostering a safe and supportive workplace for everyone → https://lnkd.in/gztXcsi9    #DisabilityPrideMonth #AGLPeople

We’re proud AGL’s Electrify Now platform was recognised at this week’s Victorian iAwards in the Merit, Sustainability & Environmental category, which rewards innovation making a difference in the community. In an Australian energy retailer first, Electrify Now simplifies the electrification journey by providing households with their potential energy bill and carbon savings for upgrading to an all-electric home. AGL customers can now access the innovative tool on their AGL App while all other households can access their personalised information through the platform. We have been working with Someva Renewables to speak with local community members of Hay and Deniliquin about the benefit of the Pottinger Energy Park project. This gives them the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the proposed wind, solar and battery storage project.

The teams from Someva and AGL have been in NSW’s historic Riverina region recently to speak with locals about the proposed Pottinger Energy Park project. As part of the public exhibition process for the project’s Wind Environmental Impact Statement, our teams hosted pop-up public information booths in Hay and Deniliquin to give the community the chance to ask questions and find out more about the proposed wind, solar and battery storage project. Watch the short video below to learn more about how Someva and AGL have been engaging with the community in Hay and Deniliquin. Find out more about the proposed Pottinger Energy Park, which if approved could provide enough renewable energy to power 830,000 Australian homes, here – https://lnkd.in/g6jKCcJV #communityengagement #listening #energytransition #renewables #renewableenergy #windpower #Riverina #AGL #wind #batterytechnology #NetZero

Fantastic to be back in Sydney to take part in the Leaders Panel at this year’s Australian Clean Energy Summit, alongside Rob Wheals, Stephanie Unwin, Ning CHEN and Angela Karl.   The energy transition will require an unprecedented level of coordination and policy and regulatory certainty and stability over the coming decades. As coal plants reach their end-of-life investment in clean energy, storage and flexibility is critical.   It was great to share more about how AGL is embracing the challenges and opportunities ahead as we transform our portfolio while connecting residential and business customers to a sustainable future.   We also discussed the wellbeing of workforces and the importance of looking out for each other as we deliver this once in a generation energy transition. I’m proud of AGL’s incredible range of health, safety and wellness programs, including our Recharge Leave benefit, which is designed to encourage our employees to look after their wellbeing.   Thanks to the Kane Thornton for leading a great discussion today and to the Clean Energy Council for hosting this important event.   #AGL #ACES2024 #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #JoinTheChange

Australia has enormous potential to become a global clean energy superpower in the race to net zero. Renewable energy is driving positive impacts across energy prices, energy security and employment, as well as greater economic prosperity across rural and regional Australia. Eminent leaders, Angela Karl, Damien Nicks, Stephanie Unwin, Ning CHEN and Rob Wheals, joined our CEO Kane Thornton as part of today’s Australian Clean Energy Summit (ACES) leader’s panel, the forefront of the clean energy transition, sharing their insights with a packed room on the challenges and how they’re being navigated. "Australia is a leader for renewable energy - we have some 400 times the amount of renewable energy we need hitting our shore every day. We've also got an incredibly low population and large volumes of critical minerals… we need to harness those resources and export them," said Angela Karl, Managing Director HMC Capital. AGL Energy CEO Damien Nicks said, "What we have now is policy ambition, what need is policy certainty. Investors need to feel confident they'll get a return on investments, and our customers need certainty too."    We’re just getting started at #ACES2024, with an afternoon full of essential speakers and panellists taking in topics from the global race to net zero, clean energy finance, community engagement and much more. After that, it’s off to networking drinks and the sold-out Gala Dinner, sponsored by NAB. #AustralianCleanEnergySummit #ACES2024 #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

AGL Loy Yang proudly supported the 2024 Indigenous Round held on Saturday 6 July in the North Gippsland Football Netball League. I was grateful to be able to attend the Woodside vs TTU game at the Woodside Recreation Reserve and be a part of this special day celebrating the culture, history and achievements of First Nations peoples. It was great to see players and spectators from both clubs coming together for a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony. The traditions and stories of First Nations peoples were also celebrated through a cultural dance performance and barbeque featuring Indigenous foods. Congratulations to Woodside Football Netball Club and the Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place on organising a fantastic day!

Since 2021, we’ve proudly been partnering with The Salvation Army Australia to help them meet their sustainability goals. Through our partnership, we’ve delivered solar energy solutions for up to 850 Salvos sites across Australia, helping reduce their operating costs and emissions, and freeing up funds for them to do what they do best – supporting Australians who need it most. In our Path to Net Zero Podcast with host Taylor Dee Hawkins and The Peers Project, hear from The Salvation Army’s Group Commercial Manager, Robert Johnston, and Environmental Projects Coordinator, Elyse Anderson, about the benefits of going solar, the role of sustainability in their work, and how making the switch to solar has allowed them to redirect energy cost savings to help those in need. As we mark NAIDOC Week across Australia this week, we celebrate the history, culture and achievements of First Nations people. It’s a time for all Australians to join events happening across local communities and listen, engage and learn. Today in our Narrm (Melbourne) office, we were treated to an incredible performance by world-renowned Didgeridoo player Ganga Giri, as well as special cultural dance session by Kutaw Zoeru, a traditional dance and song group from Boigu Island in the Torres Strait, who are now based in Brisbane. Learning about First Nations culture is an important step in our reconciliation journey and cultural awareness sessions enable us to learn more about the histories, traditions and cultures of First Nations people. Our Loy Yang site will also enjoy the talents of the Kutaw Zoeru dance troupe tomorrow as we celebrate NAIDOC Week across AGL sites. #NAIDOCWEEK #NAIDOC2024 #Reconciliation

Speaking at the CEDA - Committee for Economic Development of Australia NSW Energy Market Update today, AGL CEO Damien Nicks, told participants that AGL has a clear strategy; to decarbonise our generation portfolio and help our customers electrify. Addressing key decision makers, government and industry, Damien outlined how AGL’s strategy supports the New South Wales’ Energy Roadmap and Australia’s transition. Our projects in NSW include a 500-megawatt battery on the site of the former Liddell power station – an important step in the transformation of the site into a clean energy hub. “To support our transition, we have an ambition to add 12 gigawatts of renewable and firming generation to our national portfolio by the end of 2035 and accelerate the delivery where we can. I’m pleased to say we’re making strong progress against this strategy.” #JoinTheChange #Transition #Renewables
