Last week, we had an insightful catch-up with our label supplier in Melbourne, MCC Verstraete, where we had the opportunity to watch the production of their innovative In-Mould Labeling (IML) process firsthand. The IML technique, which integrates labels during the manufacturing of the packaging at our site in Adelaide, offers numerous benefits including enhanced durability, high-quality graphics, and improved recyclability. This seamless integration not only streamlines the production process but also elevates the overall product presentation, making it a fascinating and valuable technology in the packaging industry.

In the packaging industry, continual education is crucial for ourselves, our customers, and the end consumers. Techno Plas is dedicated to enhancing our understanding of the circular economy of plastics and helping to close the loop. It was insightful to learn more about the lifecycle of plastic packaging, like ours, and other materials with companies directly involved in sorting and recycling. Clayton Fisher, Nigel Wilkinson, and Jodi Cmrlec had the opportunity to visit NORTHERN ADELAIDE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY and Recycling Plastics Australia, two pioneering South Australian companies in their respective fields. Last week, we were at APPEX 2024, the largest processing and packaging expo in Australasia. Being an advanced manufacturer, Techno Plas is constantly at the cutting edge of innovation. eCup Reusable Cups are helping to create a more sustainable circular economy at Gluttony as part of the Adelaide Fringe. They have replaced their single use plastic cold beverage cups with reusable cups, which can be washed and re-used up to 1,000 times. At the end of their extended lifecycle they can be put into the curbside recycling bin where they will be recycled and given a new life. John Maule
