Scaling-up bio-based solutions across rural Europe, using multi-actor innovation platforms and proper innovation support
About us
Who we are? MainstreamBIO is an Horizon Europe EU funded project, which sets out to get small-scale bio-based solutions into mainstream practice across rural Europe, providing a broader range of rural actors with the opportunity to engage in and speed up the development of the bioeconomy. MainstreamBIO involves 10 partners across Europe, coming from various fields. All partners combine their knowledge and experience to promote the growth of bioeconomy in a sustainable and inclusive manner. What we do ? Recognizing the paramount importance of bioeconomy for addressing key global environmental and societal challenges, MainstreamBIO develops regional Multi-actor Innovation Platforms in 7 EU countries (PL, DK, SE, BG, ES, IE & NL). Where is MainstreamBIO focused? MainstreamBIO aims to enhance cooperation among key rural players towards co-creating sustainable business model pathways in line with regional potentials and policy initiatives. Why should rural actors get involved in MainstreamBIO? MainstreamBIO supports 35 multiactor partnerships to overcome barriers and get bio-based innovations to market with hands-on innovation support, accelerating the development of over 70 marketable bio-based products and services. Furthermore, MainstreamBIO develops and employs a digital toolkit to better match bio-based technologies, social innovations and good nutrient recycling practices with available biomass and market trends as well as to enhance understanding of the bioeconomy with a suite of educational resources building on existing research results and tools. How does MainstreamBIO work? A monitoring and evaluation framework will gauge the performance and impact of MainstreamBIO's measures, providing partners with the intel required to catalyse mutual learning across regions and contribute to the creation of policy frameworks more conducive to the uptake of small-scale bio-based solutions in rural areas. 🌱📊 We Need Your Input! Participate in the HorizonEU #3COProject Survey 🌍 Our sister project, 3-CO, is conducting a comprehensive #survey to document and analyze beneficial social innovations. These #innovations encompass new ideas, products, services, organizations, and models that meet social needs more effectively, create new social relationships or collaborations, and promote sustainable consumption and production patterns.
🚀 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬! 🌍 The #HorizonEU #3COProject is conducting a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 to document and analyse 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐒𝐈), i.e. new ideas (products, services, new organisations and models) that simultaneously meet social needs (more effectively than alternatives), create new social relationships or collaborations, and foster sustainable consumption and production patterns. 🔗 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐰: https://lnkd.in/ebvr69zZ We invite you to share your pioneering projects and innovative solutions 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲. Your contributions will enrich our database, fostering a deeper understanding of social innovations and 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫. The collection of SI from various sectors (ideally in the #BioEconomy and with a large geographic spread) will be included as best practise examples in three brochures that will be communicated to #consumers and civil society, private businesses and public bodies. Based on your contribution 3-CO will also develop #PolicyRecommendations on social measures to support better-informed decision-making processes, social engagement, and innovation. The key objective of the project 3-CO (Concise Consumer Communication through Robust Labels for Biobased Systems) is to support sustainable consumption and improve consumer behaviour through smart digital solutions and guidelines for #Labelling and #Certification Scheme holders. 3-CO will therefore develop and demonstrate the viability of a supportive framework for LCS on Business-to-Consumers (B2C) communication for industrial bio-based products, and will publish guidelines for label development. The recommendations and guidelines will be varified in ten different #BioBased value chains, which were selected based on their relevance.
