Maximizing Workplace Potential: Unleashing Strengths in ADHD, Autism, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

About us

Welcome to Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace, where we celebrate the unique strengths and talents of individuals with ADHD, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD), giftedness, and other neurodivergent traits. We're passionate about unlocking the potential of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace. Our focus is on the positives – highlighting the creativity, 'out of the box' thinking, pattern recognition, and attention to detail that neurodivergent employees bring to their work. If you are an employee, an employer or an HR manager we would be delighted to come & talk to you. Please contact us at info@adhd-edu.be to arrange an appointment. Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace is part of European Brains @ Work Belgium - which is part of The European Brains @ Work Foundation, NL. 'European Brains @ Work' was founded in The Netherlands & it was co-funded by the Erasmus+ KAI Programme of the European Union. We also have online Support meetings (email info@adhd-edu.be) https://linktr.ee/NeurodiverseAdults We started as a group (ADHD, ASC & LD Belgium - now Neurodiversity Belgium) which provides a network of support, evidence-based information and resources for English-speaking families (children and teens, their parents and wider family) affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, and Learning Disabilities in Belgium - as well as for their teachers/schools and other professionals who work with them. We hope we can spread awareness about ADHD, Autism & other Neurodivergent conditions that often coexist with them, such as Learning Differences (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia/DCD, Dysgraphia etc), in order that the children and adolescents who experience these chronic conditions will have the opportunity to achieve their full potential at school, and to live balanced and productive lives as adults. Hello friends. I am thrilled to announce the release of the revised course, “Hiring and Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace.” The first course was written in 2020, and much has changed. Since the first release, we've learned a lot more from lived experiences and research, all of which have been combined into this new course. Most importantly, I've had the opportunity to gather more perspectives from the neurodiversity community by providing feedback mechanisms and talking to other leaders in this industry. I hope you enjoy this course and feel it's worth passing on to those in your community who want to learn about neurodivergent people and how open-minded communication can make you an ally. Thank you to the insightful interviewees for this course who were kind enough to share their experiences and perspectives with the world: Will Wheeler Hiren Shukla Alexandria Fisher Sydney Elaine Butler 🌟 The course has one big theme: Let’s do what we can to create a workplace where everyone can do their best work. We all deserve an equitable opportunity to flourish. Trainee Clinical Psychologist at UCL

Absolutely over the moon to say that I’ve been offered a place on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at UCL! This feels utterly surreal. I am SO thankful to the multiple people who have supported me throughout the application process. Having experienced how daunting the process is, I would love to support any aspiring Clinical Psychologists with future applications/interviews. Dr Potter incoming! 16 year old me wouldn’t believe this… #dclinpsy #UCL #clinicalpsychology

The Neurodiverse Couple’s Coach. I help Autistic/AudHD/ADHD adults meet their life and couples goals. Two healthy self aware adults make a healthy couples relationship.

🌻As a Neurodiverse Couples Coach I have passionately (and on-goingly) invested in learning the strengths and challenges of neurodiverse couples. 🏇Gottman’s Four Horseman sneak into relationships without us knowing. IF these are present in any of your relationships they MUST go 🚮. 🌻For Neurodiverse Couples the questions are: 1) What are our roadblocks? 2) How do we each identify our own strengths and challenges. 3) How do we understand ourselves, eachother AND work together as a team? 4) What do we do to apply these strategies in the moment? Neurodivergent people are people, we just think differently. 💕🌻💗 Robintatellc.com #autismlove #positivity #friendship #love #audhd #neurodiversecouplescoach #adhd #relationshipcoach #gottman

What your employees are not telling you This weekend (and most of last week actually), I spent hours completing forms to secure support for my younger child who is #neurodivergent. This is alongside managing a tribunal process for my older #autistic son to secure appropriate educational provision for him at high school. It’s a lot. Especially alongside trying to work and manage life’s business. But this experience is not isolated to me. There are many parents turning up to work every day with a painted smile on their face, responding that they had a "good weekend" when in reality, many of them are masking the physical, emotional and mental impact of parenting a child with additional needs. Many workplaces still don’t have safe spaces available for employees who are parents of #neurodivergent children to share what is going on for them. The data shows that these parents (usually women) often leave their jobs and take on lower-paid, part-time roles so they can support their children and manage the medical appointments, school meetings, therapy sessions and beyond. As an organisation, it is not in your interest to ignore this population in your workforce. You are often losing highly talented staff at the peak of their performance. It’s costing you money and time to train new members of staff and also impacting the well-being and morale of other employees who know what’s really going on. If you’re reading this and thinking "no one really talks about this at our organisation so we probably don’t have a problem," then I would invite you to think again. What steps have you taken to see how many of your workforce are caregivers to #neurodivergent children? And before you rush ahead to find out, please do not do so without having the appropriate infrastructure in place to support them first. If you want to know how to do this, connect with me and we can discuss. #Neurodiversity #WorkplaceInclusion #SupportForParents #TalentRetention #InclusiveWorkplace #Autism #ADHD ———————————————————————— Hi, I’m Reena, a speaker and trainer on neurodiversity and the intersection of race and ethnicity. 📍Booked your speaker for South Asian Heritage Month (18 July – 17 Aug) yet? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. DM me to book in a chat.

  • More help is needed for disabled employees

Ibrahim, who works in Belgium, often must take his personal laptop to work as his organisation doesn’t have the assistive technology necessary to do his job. This is one of the problems revealed in our new report “Digital Skills, Accommodation and Technological Assistance for Employment”. It shows the pervasive problems still facing employees with disabilities across the EU and the UK– from inaccessible hiring processes and lack of accommodation through to lack of access to assistive technology and hostile workplace cultures. The report, produced by the European Disability Forum and funded by Google.org, explores the causes of low employment of persons with disabilities. Other main findings include: - Only 1 in 4 employers have developed accessible recruitment processes, an essential step in hiring people with disabilities. - 81% of employers have no policy in place for the acquisition of assistive technology - Only 25% of employers are aware of and use public support to provide reasonable accommodation to workers with disabilities. Our recommendations include: - The need for employers to invest in accessible technology, regardless of employees’ disability status - Public authorities should increase and publicise state aid available to employers to cover reasonable accommodation – and simplify the application process. - That technology companies involve persons with disabilities when designing technological solutions.
