Excellence in training at Alfa Laval India's Field Service Engineers Academy Alfa Laval’s Field Service Engineers Academy (FSE Academy) is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate fresh Diploma Engineers into highly skilled professionals. With India taking the lead in this transformative program, the academy addresses a critical need for technically proficient and customer-focused engineers. This effort underscores Alfa Laval’s commitment to excellence and innovation in engineering services. The first engineers began training in August 2023 and concluded in July 2024. 🔍 The Concept of the Academy The FSE Academy is founded on the principle of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world engineering demands. By selecting fresh Diploma engineers through campus placements from reputed Engineering Colleges, the academy provides a structured one-year training program. This comprehensive curriculum divided into 2 phases, equips engineers with the technical expertise, practical experience, and professional skills needed to excel in their roles. 🤖 Generative AI - Hype or Hope? AI is not a new field of science. In the 1950s scientists discussed machine learning and the term Artificial Intelligence was mentioned as early as 1955. At Alfa Laval we use AI to optimize processes and automate production and in our AI Centre of Excellence, we explore new ways to create business value by using AI and Generative AI. 💡 Generative AI and Large Language Models, LLM are relatively new and it's a fast-changing landscape. This will change the way we think about content, the way we search for it, and the way we curate it. It will also change the way we make decisions around all the data we have. “Generative AI is a valuable enabler for how we can achieve scalability for Alfa Laval towards our 2030 ambition of becoming a 100 billion SEK company. This is a fantastic opportunity for how we can leverage technology to generate bottom-line value for Alfa Laval”, says Susanne Thorskov Hansen, Chief Information Officer. 🌐✨ Many companies are thinking about Generative AI, talking about it and believing in its opportunities. But that will not make any difference. If companies want to realize opportunities, they must get started and explore the potential. At Alfa Laval, we are not just about leading-edge technology; we're about creating a sustainable future. 🌍 Stonehenge, in Wiltshire, is a protected World Heritage Site, managed by English Heritage, which attracts more than a million visitors a year. 🛠️💧The English Heritage appointed Nijhuis Industries to construct the wastewater treatment plant for their new Stonehenge Visitor Centre, in response to the increasing number of people heading to the iconic stone circle. 🌱 Nijhuis approached Alfa Laval to provide a solution for recycling final effluent for non-potable uses, with some key requirements, including the installation of an above-ground system and the provision of a sufficient supply of high quality recycled (grey) water for use in toilet flushing and irrigation. We're proud to have partnered with Nijhuis Saur Industries to meet and exceed the UK Environment Agency’s standards, providing a system that's both efficient and discreet, safeguarding the site's historic landscape. 🌱 🤝🌳 This year marks a decade since Alfa Laval's membrane bioreactor technology was installed at the Stonehenge Visitor Centre. Reflecting on Posidonia 2024: navigating towards a sustainable maritime future 🚢 It’s been fourteen days since Posidonia Events, an important international maritime gathering held biannually in Athens, Greece ended. At Posidonia, the event's main themes included maritime technologies, ship management, the offshore industry, and marine transport services. 🌐 The current global system relies heavily on the shipping industry to transfer materials, parts, and goods around the world. According to the International Chamber of Shipping, around 11 billion tons of goods are transported by sea each year. 🤝 The marine industry is one of Alfa Laval’s core customer segments and we collaborate with our partners, customers, and thought leaders worldwide to challenge conventional thinking on quality, efficiency, and innovation. 🌿🌍This week, Anna Hall, Head of Public Affairs, Energy Division, Alfa Laval, participated as a key expert panellist at the United Nations Bonn Climate Change Conference. Opportunities and barriers to accelerate sustainable cities were among topics discussed by panellists. Alfa Laval has gathered stakeholders from across the ecosystem to formulate a collective recommendation paper with ten actions on how to make cities more energy efficient and less dependent on fossil fuel: ✅ Develop and enforce effective policies that accelerate the implementation of sustainable solutions. ✅ Enhance urban energy planning to support energy-efficient initiatives. ✅ Foster collaboration across the ecosystem, including industry, energy companies, cities, governments, and academia. ✅ Promote the integration of sector coupling to optimize energy use. ✅ Invest in advanced heating and cooling systems for greater energy efficiency. ✅ Encourage public-private partnerships to drive innovation and implementation. ✅ Educate and engage communities on the importance of energy efficiency. ✅ Leverage technology and data analytics to monitor and improve energy performance. ✅ Provide financial incentives for adopting energy-efficient solutions. ✅ Advocate for international cooperation to share best practices and technologies.
