Do you know what greenhouse gases are? They are a mix of gases that make an invisible 'blanket' around the earth. This 'blanket' lets sunlight in, but traps heat in (like a greenhouse) which makes our planet too hot to support healthy life. At Maple Leaf Foods, we care about the environment and we're doing something about it! We're turning organic waste from landfills into renewable energy which eliminates greenhouse gases. Meet Sustainability Hero, Rebecca Schalike! She’s a chemical technologist on the Food Safety and Quality Assurance team at our corporate Central Laboratory located in Puslinch, Ontario. Originally starting off as a summer student about a decade ago, today Rebecca is a key player in laboratory sustainability and is proud to conduct meaningful work to produce safe food for our consumers — people just like you!
