In partnership with West Fraser, Kee Tas Kee Now Sawmills LTD., NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), and Lubicon Lake, we have embarked on a summer of forestry training. Over the course of 8 weeks, students head out to the field to train in skills needed by the forestry industry,, including plant identification and general forest health indicators. With the real-world skills they need, many grads from this program have gone on to find successful careers in forestry. This is just one way Applied Research makes an impact. Combating plastic waste, one project at a time. Through our Plastics Research in Action partnership with Heartland Polymers, we collaborated with PolyCo to make flooring domestically sourced and sustainable. We have been testing the characteristics of carious plastic formulations to uncover the best combination of materials to create sustainable, recyclable luxury flooring materials.
