“People in Canada can’t see this content” It’s been almost a full year since the block of News on Instagram and Facebook in Canada. And the repercussions have been disastrous for the online news industry. I gave my comments and our perspective to Toronto Star reporter Raisa Patel on the “terrible” loop hole in the Online News Act (Bill C-18), and how news publishers are currently getting double f*cked — my words 🤠 It’s time the CRTC steps up and proposes amendments that fit the reality of how news content is being shared and consumed on social media… not the faulty assumptions our Government had last year when they decided to call Meta’s bluff.
