Incredible and productive couple of days experiencing the magic of Vancouver Island / City of Victoria BC and the past, present and future impact on #lifesciences #innovation: Almost 20 years ago Aspreva Pharmaceuticals was founded here by biotech luminaries Richard Glickman, Noel Hall and Dr. Michael Hayden MBChB , PhD The company become a sensational success and was acquired by CSL Vifor for almost a $1 B. Many of those employees and founders went on to create other successful companies such as Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc. , ESSA Pharma , and many more. Today the Island punches way above its weight and has some of the leading companies in the area of Device Manufacturing such as StarFish Medical, advanced engineering such as Redlen Technologies Inc. , leading biotechs like Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc. IPA (ImmunoPrecise Antibodies) Histone Therapeutics 3D biotissue engineering like Axolotl Biosciences and VoxCell BioInnovation and many many more.
