We are delighted to announce that FieldComm Group has awarded Ethernet-APL physical-layer conformity certification to our FSS400 Swirl and FSV400 Vortex flowmeters. Following a comprehensive series of tests from FieldComm Group, the global standards-based organization, these are now the first the first flowmeters on the market with this important certification. The certificate enables us to roll out APL technology to other instrumentation at a faster pace. It is also key to assure customers of our product quality and interoperability in industrial communication networks. Both us and FieldComm Group are founding members of the APL project, and have worked on technology development, standardization, product testing and certification since 2015, along with other companies and organizations. We are collaborating with Vulcan Energy Resources to support carbon-neutral lithium production.    We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vulcan Energy Resources to jointly establish design, engineering, execution and operations plans for strategically important reserves of lithium in Europe. This exciting collaboration aims to establish Phase One of Vulcan Energy’s ZERO CARBON LITHIUM™ Project in Germany’s Upper Rhine Valley region, with electrification, instrumentation, control and digital. With integrated renewable heat, renewable power and lithium production, they will provide a first regional supply of carbon-neutral lithium, paving the way for Germany and Europe to lead on achieving a net-zero shift in mobility and energy. The June edition of the Accelerator – a hackathon-style event gathered 300+ participants and 30+ partner companies working on 97 use cases that accelerated existing projects – 38 of them tackled the topic of Data & AI. Artificial Intelligence was the main theme of the event and the associated conference, AI Boost, which brought together ABB experts and industry leaders - the brightest minds in the field, such as OpenAI, McKinsey & Company, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft and Google. The event was sponsored by Sami Atiya, President of ABB's Robotics and Discrete Automation business, and Carolina Granat, Chief Human Resources Officer. Navigating to net-zero in maritime transport is crucial for our planet. Did you know that the shipping industry accounts for 80% of global trade? But it also contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. Eero Lehtovaara, Daniel Olsson and Clara Holmgren explain how we are helping the maritime industry reach its net-zero emissions target by 2050.     Some examples include:  • On-Board microgrids: Our on-board microgrids combine traditional and renewable energy sources (like green hydrogen) with batteries. Energy storage is critical for long-distance voyages.    • Electrifying the short haul: Our technology can enable all-electric ferries and tugs to operate emission-free within harbors and waterways. Precision and power help Porsche take the double in Portland!   Last weekend was another wonderful showcase of high-speed ingenuity and energy management at the Portland E-Prix in Oregon. The penultimate race of Season 10 delivered high stakes drama and impressive victories for Antonio Felix De Costa of Porsche. We have won a prestigious award for our contribution to the Faroe Islands project. We’re thrilled to announce that we've been honored at the third edition of El Periódico de la Energía Awards! Our project in the Faroe Islands, supplying a third synchronous condenser, has been recognized in the category of Best International Energy Initiative, for driving the transition to green energy in the region. Collaborating with SEV (the leading power producer and distributor in the Faroe Islands) we deployed an 8 megavolt-ampere synchronous condenser unit on the island of Borðoy. This innovative technology stabilizes the power grid while phasing out fossil fuel power plants in favor of renewable generation. The unit reinforces the local power supply for approximately 5,000 people by integrating into the main grid. We’re proud to be part of this transformative initiative!
