Chest x-rays play a critical role in #TB early detection, especially in vulnerable populations like children and higher risk or #immunocompromised adults. Broader chest X-ray deployment, however, is constrained by the shortage of human readers and radiologists. To overcome these challenges, many practitioners and health systems have successfully deployed AI-powered CAD software, which automates the interpretation of digital chest x-ray images, streamlining care for patients and saving time for practitioners. Although AI’s potential to support healthcare systems is a common discussion point among global health leaders, these tools are still in their infancy and have yet to be fully adopted in the fight against #tb. Structural barriers, like insufficient technological infrastructure in some endemic communities, are limiting more widespread #AI adoption. Discover how stakeholders can identify and overcome infrastructure barriers and more fully activate the power of AI to #endTB: https://lnkd.in/dTjtcrwy #privatesectorengagement #tuberculosis #tbawareness

Despite the potential for leveraging AI technologies to better combat #tuberculosis, their adoption has been slow in many TB-endemic communities. To advance utilization of #AI tools, global health stakeholders must better articulate AI’s value proposition, including how it can be used to improve screening capabilities, strengthen patient data analysis, and reduce inequities across the care continuum. Common TB treatment regimens have many drawbacks: they can take too long to implement, can be too complicated to administer, and can be ineffective at fighting drug-resistant strains of the disease (MDR-TB). PAN-TB, part of the EU's IMI AMR Accelerator, is a collaborative effort to develop novel drug regimens that are more effective against drug-resistant strains, have shorter treatment durations, and are more straightforward to administer. Learn more about how these innovative drug regimens have the potential to help in the fight against TB: https://lnkd.in/gXBfNSX4 #noveldrugregimens #standardofcare #globalhealth
