Swissloop consists of around 30 mechanical/electrical engineers, material and computer scientists from bachelor to master. The team is mainly based at ETH Zurich and complemented by design architects, and business students from various higher education institutions across Switzerland. We are fostering the promotion and incubation of Hyperloop innovation and technologies in Switzerland. Through an interdisciplinary platform, we connect and match students from varied backgrounds to shared resources that meet the infrastructural necessities, intrinsic to the R&D of the Hyperloop and its emerging and related mobility and transport markets.

Wow, what an incredible finale to European Hyperloop Week 2024! 🚀✨ After successfully demonstrating our propulsion run and vacuum test on Saturday, we wrapped up with a fantastic public day and an exciting award ceremony! 🎉 Not only did we secure third place in the Complete System Award, but we also took home the Vacuum award and the Most Scalable design award — two of our biggest goals this year! 🏆💪 With this, we conclude the project year. We are very proud of what we have achieved in the last ten months as a team. Soon, the team will dissolve and a new team will take over. Today, Swissloop successfully presented this year‘s complete system in front of the EHW jury and all the other teams, competing for the complete system award. But the excitement doesn't end here! This week marked the beginning of European Hyperloop Week 2024! We've been busy with scrutineering, showcasing various components of our pod to the jury in preparation for our upcoming demonstrations. The main events will take place next week, featuring presentations, discussions, and the highlight of the week—demonstrating our new pod to the other teams, the jury, and all hyperloop enthusiasts. This year’s European #Hyperloop Week is being held in #Zurich from 15 to 21 July. Student engineering teams will present their prototypes to a jury and compete against each other in different categories. ETH Zurich is represented with the Swissloop project. A big thank you to our partner Bomatec Group for providing us with the essential magnets for our motor! Their permanent magnets play a crucial role in our motor and levitation system. They create the primary magnetic repulsions and attractions to keep our pod levitating and propel it forward. Thanks to these magnets, our electromagnets don’t have to produce as strong of a magnetic field. This results in less energy consumption, making our pod more efficient!

Yesterday marked a huge highlight of our Swissloop season: the rollout! We invited all our sponsors, as well as our friends and family, to our workshop at the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich to present our new pod. It was an evening our engineers had eagerly anticipated for a long time, as they finally had the chance to showcase the hard work they’ve put in over the last two semesters. We were especially delighted to have Prof. em. Dr. Sarah M. Springman join the rollout. She has been a big source of inspiration for all our engineers throughout the project, and we are thrilled to name our new pod in her honor.
