In August of 2022, using a brief of which I'm showing a glimpse of in the attached image, I helped kick off a project code-named Olympia. The goal was simple, at first: find a partner to help Nex envision the industrial design of a camera-based motion-tracking device designed for your living room TV. If the result was compelling, surely we could use it to persuade partners in the investment community and the manufacturing industry to help our small startup bring Olympia to life. We felt strongly that Nex motion games were in need of a simple and easy way to be enjoyed, particularly together as a family. Olympia needed to exist. And after countless go/no-go discussions, stressful company-altering decisions, onboarding many new amazing partners, and less than 2 years later, I couldn’t be happier to share that Nex Playground (aka Olympia) has shipped late last year, but also has now been recognized internationally for product design with a prestigious Red Dot Product Design award 🏆 and several (!) Core77 awards and notable recognitions 🏆🏅. It is not without great gratitude and humility that we enjoy these accolades.
