O convite é direcionado a empresas do início ao fim da cadeia, de frigoríficos a varejistas, que buscam critérios socioambientais de monitoramento nesse bioma. Outros interessados como produtores, secretarias de meio ambiente, organizações da sociedade civil e prestadores de serviços correlatos são bem-vindos! O webinar incluiu palestrantes de varejistas, do Ministério Público Federal, de frigoríficos e da sociedade civil. O público, de cerca de 150 pessoas, foi extremamente participativo, fazendo perguntas práticas sobre a implementação do Protocolo. Não só a participação do público, mas também dos palestrantes, se revezando para responder às mais de 30 perguntas feitas, nos deixou muito satisfeitos e orgulhosos por vivenciar na prática como a construção colaborativa pode ser alcançada. The Malaysian edition of Unlocking capital for sustainability is currently underway at Securities Commission Malaysia in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur! A key topic this morning was the urgent need for capacity building among SMEs to navigate increasing climate-related disclosures and sustainability reporting standards. As Eco-Business Founder and Managing Director Jessica Cheam mentioned in her opening remarks, while it is imperative for companies to “prioritise building capacity in their organisations and to upscale their workforce for a rapidly evolving landscape”, it is the SMEs - the backbone of Malaysia’s economy - that are the “heart of this effort.” As to what drives SMEs towards sustainability-related disclosures and to decarbonise, Navina Balasingam, General Manager at Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), noted in the opening plenary that SMEs are compelled to disclose for two reasons: a) they’re being compelled to do so by their customers; 2) they see a competitive advantage in becoming more sustainable. She further added, “the one thing we see that can drive SMEs is when an anchor [company] is willing to support the progress and to be responsible of their supplier's sustainability journey, it really does move the needle.” Missing out on the event? Esta semana tuvimos el privilegio de ser anfitriones de "People Exchange Week" en #Cali, #Colombia. Durante el evento, hemos explorado temas fundamentales como la equidad de género, los derechos humanos, los medios de vida sostenibles, el cambio climático y los derechos laborales, en consonancia con la visión de #Proforest para #2030. Además, hemos tenido el gusto de recibir a colegas de otras regiones, lo que ha sido una excelente oportunidad para integrarnos, compartir conocimientos y descubrir las iniciativas de nuestros compañeros. También hemos disfrutado de la cultura, la rica gastronomía y la música de Colombia. This week, we´ve had the privilege of hosting People Exchange Week in #Cali, #Colombia. During the event, we discussed important topics such as gender equity, human rights, livelihoods, climate and labor rights, all within the context of Proforest's vision for 2030. Colleagues from other regions also joined us for this enriching experience, allowing us to integrate and learn about the work being done in different areas.
