Turning fabrics into opportunities in Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement, Uganda Meet our dedicated colleague Eunice Anderu who tells you about the all-female “New Ndekote” group and their success in their enterprise as a tailoring and savings group. With our support, the group received sewing machines, fabrics, and training. Now they are not only able to sew and sell clothings but save some of the earned money in their savings box. This savings initiative opens doors to future opportunities, including access to loans. ℹ️ The “New Ndekote” group is one of the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) that we support in refugee settlements. VSLA groups are self-managed groups of some 15 to 25 members that meet regularly in safe spaces and use members' savings to lend to each other. This initiative is made possible through support from Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). #MalteserInternational #Uganda #WithRefugees #VSLA #CommunityEmpowerment #Entrepreneurs Malteser International in Uganda

Malteser International hat dies direkt geteilt
Following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Sovereign #OrderofMalta a new aid delivery has reached the Palestinian population in northern #Gaza. “The situation of the population in Gaza can hardly be put into words. There is a lack of everything. Access to essential supplies is restricted” says Thomas Weiss, Head of the Middle East Department at Malteser International https://lnkd.in/dFrr8mMa

The situation in north-east #Nigeria is dire. Insufficient rainfall has led to poor harvests, escalating food prices, and widespread displacement due to terrorist threats. Consequently, child #malnutrition is on the rise. According to the UN, approximately 4.8 million people currently rely on humanitarian aid. In response, we have launched a pilot project in the village of Kirbiri to enhance the nutritional status of both refugees and the host community. With support from Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany, we have distributed #pullets, battery cages, feed, and medicines to various families. This initiative aims to improve the families' food security while also providing them with an opportunity to generate income through the sale of eggs. #HumanitarianAid #FoodSecurity #Nutrition #Nigeria #PulletDistribution

In #Nigeria, we’re boosting the lives of families in the village of Kirbiri by distributing pullets. This initiative helps to improve food security and creates an opportunity for families to earn some extra cash through egg sales. For just 35 euros, you can sponsor 8 chickens! #Nigeria: Our aid in numbers In northeastern Nigeria, around 16 million people live in constant danger of violence from armed groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State. Millions are on the run. In the federal states of Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba, we work together with local partner organizations to support internally displaced people, returnees and vulnerable host communities. Fortunately, our efforts over the last year have made a significant impact: ➡ 75,971 people were directly supported through our projects. ➡ 59,675 people gained access to clean water. ➡ 27,995 returnees from Cameroon received support. ➡ 300 water supply facilities were built or renovated. When digitalization transforms lives: In April and May, our team equipped hospitals in Ariwara and Adi (DR Congo) with laptops, PCs and tablets. We held a workshop to train around 30 staff members in the use of the digital patient records system, creating the basis for sustainable and improved healthcare. Our aim is to ensure sustainable access to high-quality healthcare for families and children. In the long term, over 2 million people in the region will benefit from the entire project! The project is supported by the European Commission, which we thank for its support! 📸: The first photo shows the Head of Surgery and Nurse, Innocent Tsandi, using the new digital patient records system. The second photo shows the training of 30 employees in the creation and management of digital patient records. #DigitalTransformation #DRCongo #GlobalHealth #ImprovingLives #MedicalTraining #MalteserInternational #EuropeanCommission #HealthForAll

Naw Bu Gaw is on the cover of our new annual report. What is her story? She fled to #Thailand with her family as a young child. "We hid in the forest for a year until we found safety in the camp," she recalls. Her story is one of many in the Mae La Oon and Mae Ra Ma Luang refugee camps, where around 20,000 people have sought refuge. But life in the camp is tough. Because her two children often fall ill, she frequently visits Malteser International's #health facility, where her family receives essential medical care. Naw Bu Gaw's wish for her children is a good future. With your donation, you can help families like hers improve their lives.
