In recent years, there has been a paradigm shift in the field of cybersecurity, in which awareness of human behavior and the social dimension of security play an increasingly important role. Specific research and teaching topics are characterized by technical and psychological aspects, such as social engineering and cognitive bias, ethics and responsibility in information security and human factors in incident response.

A professorship at our continuously growing university offers you the opportunity to train students in these areas and promote innovative research.

MAIN TASKS

As part of the research professorship or junior professorship, you will work at the Vilshofen Technology Campus and strengthen the focus on further and advanced training, particularly in the areas of security awareness, training and education with innovative approaches to gamification and developments in virtual reality.

You will have academic responsibility for the above-mentioned specialist and research area and will be responsible for teaching, student supervision and the supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses in the relevant teaching areas. The willingness to take on additional (teaching) tasks in the Faculty of Applied Computer Science is a prerequisite.

The acquisition of research funding in the form of third-party funding is also required. Applications for third-party funded research projects and participation in research networks must be submitted predominantly in German.

YOUR PROFILE

As an applicant with field-proven expertise, you have relevant experience and robust research expertise in several of the following:

  • Establishment, management and leadership of a research group in the relevant research field
  • Acquisition of third-party funded research projects and participation in research networks
  • Fundamental and applied research with an international reputation and relevant industry partners
  • National and international projects and scientific work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Teaching in the advertised subject areas, in particular in the development of lectures, exercises, practicals and project lectures at Master's level up to the development of own curricula
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses in the above-mentioned research areas

A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary scientific work, in particular with the campus's previous focus on applied cryptography and artificial intelligence, is a prerequisite.

A convincing research agenda that expands the existing activities at TC Vilshofen is desirable to round off your profile.

General Requirements

W2 professorship:

  • Completed university degree
  • special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate
  • pedagogical aptitude
  • special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of at least five years, which must have been acquired after completion of the university degree and of which at least three years must have been exercised outside the university sector; proof of professional practice outside the university sector can be provided in special cases by the fact that a significant part of the professional activity was carried out over a period of at least five years in cooperation between the university and non-university professional practice.

W1 junior professorship (in the practice track or doctoral track):

  • Completed university degree
  • pedagogical aptitude
  • Further requirements for the practice track: special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate. No more than four years should have passed between the doctorate and the end of the application period. The date of the doctoral certificate is decisive.
  • Further requirements for the doctoral track: special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of at least five years, which must have been acquired after completion of the university degree and of which at least three years must have been exercised outside the university sector; proof of professional practice outside the university sector can be provided in special cases by the fact that a significant part of the professional activity was carried out over a period of at least five years in cooperation between the university and non-university professional practice.

The appointment to a W2 professorship is made if the specified formal requirements are met, otherwise an appointment to a W1 junior professorship may be made. In the case of an appointment to a W1 junior professorship, the missing qualification (for the practice track either professional experience in collaboration with industry or for the doctoral track the special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually proven by the quality of a doctorate) must be provided within the framework of the W1 junior professorship.

The standard teaching obligation per semester for professors (W2) at universities of applied sciences is 18 full-time teaching hours and for junior professors (W1) at universities of applied sciences 6 to 9 teaching hours. As compensation for the development and research tasks, the regular teaching obligation within the framework of the research professorship is reduced to an appropriate extent for the duration of these activities. It is possible to reduce the teaching commitment beyond this time in order to carry out research tasks.

The employment is limited to five years in a private law employment relationship. Deggendorf Institute of Technology aims to continue employment beyond this period.

The position is suitable for severely disabled people. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if their suitability, qualifications and professional performance are otherwise essentially equal.

Deggendorf Institute of Technology aims to increase the proportion of women on its academic staff. Bavaria-wide information can be found at www.werdeprofessorin.de .

In the case of foreign university degrees, a certificate evaluation from the ZAB (Central Office for Foreign Education) must be submitted for the final assessment of the recruitment requirements during the recruitment process. ( https://www.kmk.org/zab/zeugnisbewertung.html ).
