📅 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗶𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 🇵🇱  On June 25, DBDH organized a seminar on strategic development planning for district heating companies in Gliwice. This event marked a significant step in our ongoing collaboration to enhance the district heating sector.  🌍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗙𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, supported by the Danish Energy Agency, tackles the critical challenges facing the Polish district heating sector. With over 400 utilities currently dependent on coal, the shift to greener alternatives is imperative. This collaboration between Danish and Polish experts aims to develop comprehensive plans for a sustainable district heating future, particularly focusing on the cities of Gliwice and Ostroda.  🔧 𝗜𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗶𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗮, 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 will be crafted with the expertise of Danish district heating specialists from VEKS and Artelia Consulting Engineers. These plans will provide a roadmap for a greener, more efficient district heating system, showcasing the benefits of Danish know-how and strategic planning.  ⚡ 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱'𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, with renewable capacity on the rise. However, the district heating sector remains the most emission-intensive in the EU. Clear strategy and coordination are crucial to prevent delays and misguided investments. The urgency for change is palpable, and the success of this transition will significantly impact the future of the Polish economy.  🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗙𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, supported by VEKS, IGCP, the Gliwice municipality, PEC Gliwice, Artelia Consulting Engineers Limited ACE, and the Embassy of Denmark in Poland, represents a major leap towards a cleaner, more efficient district heating sector. 𝗨𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 🇩🇰🤝🇺🇦 On June 11-13, we welcomed a Ukrainian District Heating delegation to Denmark. Representatives from city councils and district heating companies from 10 Ukrainian cities, which are rebuilding their district heating infrastructure, joined us. DBDH and the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine organized the two-day visit. The Danish district heating experience, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and resilience, offers valuable insights and strategies for Ukrainian cities' rebuilding efforts. The tour began with the District Heating Seminar, featuring presentations from Lars Gullev, Anders Dyrelund, Christian Perez,  Annemette Ditlevsen, and Iryna Fedorenko on green transition, long-term project planning, LTDH, and project financing. Currently, 90% of heat in Ukrainian district heating systems is produced from gas, with an overall energy consumption of 45 GWh. Russian missiles destroyed much of the heat generation infrastructure. Ukraine's commitment to a green rebuilding initiative and building back better presents significant opportunities for cooperation. Danish companies such as Danfoss, DESMI, GRUNDFOS, Linka Energy A/S, Kamstrup, Ramboll, BROEN Valve Technologies, and LOGSTOR District Heating Solutions support reconstruction projects in Ukraine. Efter formiddagens interessante besøg på pumpestationen hos Envafors og rundvisning på ventilproduktionen hos Frese, er vi nu i gang med mødet efter en varm velkomst fra Kristian Kjeldgaard. Dagens første store tema er en diskussion om spidslast! Hvordan skal vi håndtere spidslast inden deadline for den grønne omstilling 🌿 – og hvad koster det? 💰 Emil Kjøller Alexandersen fra Dansk Fjernvarme har præsenteret en drejebog for fossilfri spidslast, som tydeliggør mulighederne og økonomien i dette. Thomas Engberg Pedersen fra HOFOR vil dele, hvilke planer man har for den grønne omstilling i en storby som København 🏙️ og om en flerstrenget og CO2-neutral fjernvarmeforsyning. Tom Krogsgaard Diget fra Viborg Varme a.m.b.a. stiller spørgsmålet om, hvorvidt 99,5% er lig med 100% i den grønne omstilling, hvis man runder op. I sin beretning tager han udgangspunkt i Viborg Varmes klimamål for 2030 og planen om udfasning af naturgas og fossile brændstoffer 🌍. Om eftermiddagen fortsætter vi med dagens andet store tema, hvor Morten Jordt Duedahl, DBDH, vil stille spørgsmålet om, hvad der skal til i forbindelse med udvidelser, sammenlægninger, samarbejder og fusioner 🤝. Jakob Storm Rasmussen fra Fjernvarme Fyn A/S vil sammen med Johan Sølvhøj fra Egedal Fjernvarme A/S besvare og debattere dette i plenum. Last week, our colleague Lesya Logvinenko was in Caen, Normandy 🇫🇷 for the third partner meeting of the WaterWarmth consortium. The transition from gas involves high costs, while the historical attraction to low-cost fossil fuels creates barriers. Aquathermal energy has become a promising avenue for sustainable heating and cooling, and the international consortium of partners within the Waterwarmth project is exploring it.
