How long have you been working for ROPCA? 🙋🏻 I have been working with ROPCA for two years, where I have become part of a team that is always up for a challenge. What is the biggest challenge you've faced in your role, and how did you overcome it? 👏🏼 It is satisfying to connect different software systems and see them in action. But it can be somewhat of a puzzle sometimes to figure out the best approach. Calm thinking and using team members as rubber ducks definitely helps here. Preventing RA + ARTHUR = The Perfect Match 🤝 🤖 Why using ultrasonography is so important in the research of preventing the onset of #rheumatoidarthritis!   The APIPPRA study published in The Lancet uses standardized joint ultrasound to assess synovitis in a population at risk for RA. In addition, this study uses systematic standardized joint ultrasound assessments to show that early treatment with abatacept can prevent the onset of #rheumatoidarthritis (RA), improve pain scores, quality of life, and functional well-being. However, as also described in the study the variability in ultrasound machines and settings led to inconsistent disease activity scores. Global single measure intraclass correlation coefficients for inter-reader reliability were 0·67 (GS) and 0·86 (PD), while inter-observer single measure intraclass correlation coefficients were 0·79 (GS) and 0·57 (PD) - meaning a patient could be given different disease activities on the same joint ultrasound images.   The Solution? ARTHUR! 🤖 ARTHUR also uses the EULAR OMERACT (EO) ultrasound grading system for disease activity on the obtained ultrasound images, eliminating the variability from different machines and settings, further it only takes images in the positions agreed on in the EO-system.  This ensures consistent and accurate disease activity assessments.   Bottom line: ARTHUR could be used to play a crucial role in future prevention pathways, helping identify those at highest risk of developing RA and ensuring they receive fast treatment, and systematic objective monitoring.   #Ultrasound #Prevention #RheumatoidArthritis #ARTHUR #MedicalInnovation #ROPCA

Anders, the stage is yours: How long have you been working at ROPCA and why did you choose to start here? 💼 I have been working for ROPCA since 2021. It was a natural choice for me; I finished my master's thesis for ROPCA back in 2019, where I worked on their first generation of AI for disease classification. When I was offered to join the team in 2021 it was a no-brainer for me, because working to develop their AI algorithms and implement them into their robots was all I really wanted to do. What are your daily tasks and what are you currently working on? What do you find most rewarding about your job? 🧑🏽💻 When working for a small company you naturally have to fit into many different roles. No days are the same. I work as a software developer and a software project manager for ROPCA focusing on developing our AI solutions and implementing them into our products. Currently I am working on an exciting new project, where our AI is being utilized in an innovative, new way. What is most rewarding for me is working together with the health care specialists and turning their knowledge into code. Could ultrasound help for early detection?  Exciting News in Rheumatoid Arthritis Research – Lets discuss! 📢     ‘A ray of hope in a dark time’ - based on such statements from participants, we would like to shine a spotlight on recent #scientificresearch, in particular the APIPPRA study (Abatacept in individuals at high risk of rheumatoid arthritis) published in The Lancet.     In this much-discussed study, researchers at King's College London found that early treatment with abatacept can prevent the onset of #rheumatoidarthritis (RA).     Here's what sets this study apart:   Professor Andrew Cope, lead researcher from King's College London, highlights this study as ‘the largest rheumatoid arthritis prevention trial to date’.   Over a rigorous five-year period, 213 participants, identified with RA autoantibodies (CCP and RF) and inflammatory joint pain, were enrolled in a double-blind, multicenter trial across the UK and the Netherlands. Half of the participants received weekly injections of abatacept, while the other half received a placebo, for 12 months, and then followed up for 12 months.     The results are promising:  During the treatment period, only 6% of the participants in the abatacept group, compared to 29% of the participants in the placebo group met the primary endpoint (development of clinical synovitis in three or more joints or rheumatoid arthritis). Synovitis was confirmed by ultrasonography. At the 24-month mark, significantly fewer participants in the abatacept group (25%) than in the placebo group (37%) progressed to rheumatoid arthritis.     Are the results as groundbreaking as announced in The Telegraph? 🤖 Behind the Scenes - Meet the Team 🤖 In the upcoming weeks we would like to introduce you to the faces behind ROPCA. First things first - Johannes C A Jørgensen, one of ROPCA's most loyal employees and with us from the very beginning. How long have you been working at ROPCA and what motivated you to join the team? 🙋🏻♂️ I joined ROPCA in 2020 as employee no. 2 and have now been here for more than 4 years. I have always loved contributing to bringing new innovative products to the market and when I got the chance to play a key role in doing exactly that for ROPCA I did not hesitate.   Can you share one of your favorite memories or proudest accomplishments from your time at ROPCA so far? 🤩 We had and extremely busy time from June 2021 to April 2022 where we converted ARTHUR from a wooden proof-of-concept to a finished safety certified product and on top of that completed a certification process for ISO13485 with the very small team we were at the time. That is an accomplishment that I am very proud of today.
