The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is the foremost Pan-African multilateral financial institution devoted to financing and promoting intra- and extra-African trade. The Bank was established in October 1993 by African governments, African private and institutional investors, and non-African investors. Its two basic constitutive documents are the Establishment Agreement, which gives it the status of an international organization, and the Charter, which governs its corporate structure and operations.

“…it was courage, bravery, independence of mind, selflessness, hard work, and putting Africa first that won political independence for Africa. It is the same set of values that will give economic freedom to our people. African leaders are starting to rise to the challenge, committing to an epic battle to regain control of the continent's economy. They have begun the process of reverse-engineering the colonial construct that has, for over six decades, tethered the continent to the roots of poverty…” An excerpt from a riveting lecture on Building a Leadership Legacy delivered by President Benedict Oramah at the 2024 Global CEO Africa Programme, co-organized by the Lagos Business School and the Strathmore Business School. President Oramah also highlighted the strategic vision of Africa’s leading forebears as the driving force that has guided Afreximbank’s impactful interventions such as support of the Africa continental free trade agreement, the establishment of a pan African payment system and the creation of the intra-African trade fair. #GlobalAfrica #Afreximbank #GlobalAfricaProsperity #OnePeopleSharedAspiration

Afreximbank and The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) proudly hosted the Algeria Investment Forum, “Focus Algeria,” in Algiers from June 25-26, 2024. This event, part of the 55th Algiers International Fair (FIA 2024), aimed to spotlight investment opportunities in Algeria and foster collaboration among African business leaders, economic institutions, and financial experts. Ayman El-Zoghbi, Acting Director, Trade, Investment and Corporate Finance, at Afreximbank represented Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President Intra Africa Trade and Export Development. Mr. El-Zoghby welcomed the forum as an effective platform for enhancing investment opportunities between Algeria and other African countries, noting the exchanges, communication and formation of strategic partnerships that resulted from the event. The forum aimed at promoting investment opportunities in Algeria for African operators and brought together key Algerian partners and foreign businessmen from across the African continent, as well as officials from economic institutions, financial experts, and economists. With Algeria poised as the gateway to Africa, this forum paved the way for enhanced regional integration and robust economic growth. We look forward to the upcoming CANEX WKND 2024 in October and the fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) next September in Algiers. The Africa Union Commission and the AU Peace Fund hosted a gala dinner in partnership with Afreximbank themed: ‘Fostering Partnerships for Sustainable Peace in Africa’. The event marked the official launch of the revitalization of the Fund as leaders called for innovative peace financing mechanisms in Africa. Cross-border trade and economic prosperity in Africa have been adversely affected by conflicts and insecurity. President Oramah underscored the critical triple nexus of peace, humanitarian action and development as prerequisites for the attainment of Agenda 2063 and the realization of a prosperous and peaceful continent. For this reason, Afreximbank plans to support the Fund with USD 210 Million over 3 years through grants, technical assistance, a project preparation facility and seed capital for peace and security initiatives. #Afreximbank #SilencingTheGuns #Agenda2063 #AUPeaceFund #GlobalAfrica
