This course provides learners with a deep understanding of energy technologies that can be strategically deployed across complex, global organizations to achieve enterprise-wide emissions reduction. 

Introduction

What are the technologies and policies that are driving energy transition? 
How can they be employed to decarbonize an enterprise across its value chain? 

The Net Zero Energy Executive Education program empowers leaders with the essential knowledge, skills, and tools to tackle the challenge of steering their organization toward a net zero operation.

Co-created and taught by faculty from Stanford University. This interdisciplinary collaboration will give you multiple perspectives and insights from the leading minds in strategy, energy technology, innovation, policy, and more. It’s a uniquely Stanford experience designed to help experienced and emerging enterprise leaders make a powerful impact on their organizations and the world.

Overview

Identifying and implementing solutions requires a strategic and innovative mindset. The Net Zero Energy program empowers aspiring, emerging, and experienced leaders to effectively develop, promote, lead, and measure the impact of decarbonization efforts across their organization. The program's use-case-driven approach leverages real-world scenarios and case studies to demonstrate how clean energy technologies and strategies can be applied across different industries and sectors. This approach allows participants to develop tailored strategies that are relevant and specific to their organization or sector. This unique 1-week program is an in-person-only, intensive on-campus experience. Students who complete this course earn a Certificate of Completion in Net Zero Energy Executive Education.

Curriculum

The program provides participants with a thorough understanding of the science of climate change, including the relationship between energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.  Participants will learn how to identify the major energy technologies and develop a customized strategy to achieve energy net zero. The program encompasses a wide range of carbon-reduction measures and technologies, such as energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and financing energy transitions. Participants will learn how to engage stakeholders and foster collaborations to drive the transition to a sustainable, net-zero energy system. The program also introduces energy justice, teaching participants how to consider social equity implications and ensure that their energy reduction strategies are inclusive and equitable.
