Zaragoza's railway network remodeled by IDOM IDOM signed a major contract for the modernization of Zaragoza's railway network with the Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible on June 7. This project is funded by the Connecting Europe Facility 2022. It is part of the 2030 Strategy for Sustainable, Safe and Connected Mobility. Masterclass sobre estadios en el Politécnico de Milán One of the ways we contribute to the improvement of society is by sharing our know-how with new generations. And we do it whenever possible. The XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas underscore innovation and adaptation to climate change   The XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas, organized by the Spanish National Committee on Large Dams (SPANCOLD), took place from June 17 to 20 at the World Trade Center in Barcelona. These conferences, which have been held since 1985 in various locations in Spain, were hosted by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), with the collaboration of CIMNE.   Several key points were underlined during the event: - How to apply the Technical Safety Standards for Dams and Reservoirs. - Innovation in the design and operation of dams. - The need to adapt to climate change.   In addition, the development of hydro energy storage was highlighted as a key element for the safe integration of renewable energy, which is essential for a successful energy transition.   We thank all organizers and participants for such an enriching event and look forward to continuing to contribute to sustainability and water security.     #JornadasPresas #Innovation #ClimateChange #EnergyTransition #IDOM --------------------------------------------- Las XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas resaltan la innovación y adaptación al cambio climático Del 17 al 20 de junio, hemos tenido el honor de participar en las #XIIIJornadasEspañolasdePresas , organizadas por el SPANCOLD - Comité Nacional Español de Grandes Presas en el World Trade Center de Barcelona. Jorge Moragas, Spanish Ambassador to Tanzania, visits Safe Kids project Jambiani is a cluster of villages in eastern Zanzibar that stretches for many kilometres along the coast. A single two-way road flanked by dense vegetation is the only viable route to get around this touristy part of the island, whether driving or on foot.   The road is old and dilapidated, with no painted lines, pavement or even hard shoulder. The absence of speed signs and traffic law regulations only exacerbates the situation, making this road, like most on the island, a danger to drivers, passengers and pedestrians.   Children, in particular, are by far the most vulnerable. They have to walk to and from school on their own, walking along the side of the road without adult supervision twice a day, sometimes covering very long distances. Unfortunately, Jambiani exemplifies the fact that road traffic accidents are the biggest cause of child mortality in the world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.   To educate these children in road safety, IDOM Social Group, together with the NGO Kukua, has relaunched the Safe Kids project, in which road safety education courses will be provided to schools throughout the year 2024. Open air schools, return of their educational philosophy   On the 30 and 31 May, Face to Face Bcn by Mónica Galindo organized in Madrid the Architectural Conference on Educational Centers: "Designing the Schools of the Future". The event, held at the La Paloma V67 design studio, aimed to bring together a group of experts to discuss new trends in an area as important to any society as the education of new generations.   Technological advances, climatic and demographic changes, the challenges and opportunities they present and, above all, the new philosophies that have emerged in this regard were analyzed.   Manuel Andrades Castro Andrades participated on behalf of IDOM and presented the recently inaugurated primary campus of Markham College Peru College in Lima, an innovative project, an example of an open-air school.   The building is thus conceived as a learning landscape that seeks to enhance the skills of each student, creating moments for individual reflection and others for collaborative work. It is a totally flexible environment where teaching and nature go hand in hand. Se analizaron los avances tecnológicos, el cambio climático y demográfico, los desafíos y oportunidades que se plantean y, sobre todo, las nuevas filosofías que han emergido al respecto.
