🏔️ Headaches, vertigo, #sleepapnea – altitude sickness begins to manifest once we get above 2,500 meters. At La Riconda (#Peru), the highest city in the world, the oxygen pressure in the air is 50% lower than at sea level. Some of the 50,000 residents who live there, at 5300m altitude, suffer from #hypoxia, oxygen deprivation, while others are unaffected. For the past 6 years, a team of scientists led by Samuel VERGÈS, has been studying the effects of lack of #oxygen and the effect of #altitude on the human organism and its use as a new therapeutic approach for certain chronic illnesses. The #FondationAirLiquide is proud to have supported this unique scientific research and humanitarian adventure called EXPEDITION 5300. Thank you to Anne-Catherine Ohlmann and Samuel Verges for sharing with Air Liquide employees about this world première. 🤺 Today our teams had the opportunity to meet with Margaux Rifkiss, #fencing champion. Bringing together our Air Liquide Healthcare teams in Bagneux, France, and our employees from our #Healthcare entities, from Spain to Argentina, to discuss with Margaux was a truly inspiring moment! It was great to discover that this elegant and historic sport is very powerful in building relationships and developing self-confidence. According to Margaux, practising fencing makes you feel strong and traveling back in time. In addition to her career as an elite athlete, Margaux is committed to teaching fencing to senior citizens in retirement homes. She believes that fencing helps eldery people to maintain their cognitive functions, develop mobility and relationships, and improve their autonomy. Some of our lucky employees even had the opportunity to take part in a short fencing initiation. Thank you Margaux for the energy and generosity of your testimony! “Decide calmly, ventilate serenely”. This is the promise that our MedTech, Air Liquide Medical Systems (ALMS), makes to ICU professionals. ALMS has been active in the ventilation market for 50 years, designing, manufacturing and marketing medical equipment, in particular ventilators used in emergency and intensive care units for patients suffering from respiratory distress. ALMS is attending the congress #REA2024 to present the result of a unique collaboration with the University Hospital of Angers. Here's a look back at an exemplary collaboration 👇🏻 #medicaldevice #ventilator #changingcarewithyou SRLF - Société de Réanimation de Langue Française

This morning at Air Liquide Medical Systems, our #medtech expert, we gathered political representatives, health authorities and our strategic academic partner: the University Hospital CHU d'Angers, with whom we have a long-term collaboration on several research projects. It was an opportunity to inaugurate a new ventilator production line. This production line in France contributes to the country's healthcare sovereignty. It will also produce ICU ventilators co-designed with the CHU d'Angers, with the aim of adding value to the healthcare sector and facilitating decision making for #caregivers working in intensive care in order to improve #patientcare. All these stakeholders share the same vision of adding value to #healthcare.
