Four of our #SpaceEnablers carried the Olympic flame! 🥇🔥 On its 12,000-kilometre journey from Athens to this year's venue Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024, it was carried by people who exemplify outstanding contributions to sport and society. Among the 11,000 torch bearers were four of our colleagues from ArianeGroup, supporting the values of excellence, friendship, and respect. 🛶 Vincent, a Swip Manager for stock management and a top Paracanoe athlete, carried the torch in Pau. Having overcome a life-changing accident, Vincent embodies resilience: “Life doesn’t stop when you become disabled – it can even be beautiful. I want to empower people to move from saying ‘I can’t do it’ to ‘I can’t do it yet’”. 🏉 Rose, a Health Inspector and European 7s rugby champion and runner-up, took up the flame in Bordeaux. She is committed to reconciling sport and family life: “This honour shows that being a professional, a mother, and an athlete can go hand in hand”. 🏃➡️ Morgane, Head of Production Control and Inspection and a keen sportswoman from an early age, carried the flame in the Jupiter Hall in Kourou, supported by her family: “It was an exciting moment not just for me, but for my relatives around the world”. 🤺 Astrid, Head of Improvement for Technical Management and Support Functions and silver medallist in foil fencing at the Tokyo 2021 #OlympicGames, completed the final 200 metres of the Vernon course: “Every member of the relay team is a link in a chain of deserving individuals who represent France’s excellence – much like at ArianeGroup, where every single employee made the success of #Ariane6 possible”. We are very proud to have such inspiring people among us who not only excel in their professional roles, but also embody the Olympic spirit. As we look forward to the Games starting in France on 26 July, we celebrate the team spirit and ambition that drives us all. 🚀 #Olympics #Paris24 #OlympicGames24 #ArianeGroup 📸 ©: Paris2024 /Cedric Michel/ SIPA PRESS / Rosina Jimenez

ArianeGroup’s #Helix space surveillance system also had its sights firmly fixed on Ariane 6’s inaugural flight 🚀 and captured a remarkable view of the new European rocket as it powered through space. 🌠 The Helix space surveillance service developed and operated by ArianeGroup is used to detect, track and characterise objects in space with extreme precision. For Ariane 6’s big night out, Helix was programmed to track the launch and payload separation. The images in the video were taken by sensors at two of the Helix network’s ground optical stations, Nerpio in south-east Spain and Calern in southern France, and show the release of five of the mission’s passengers from the rocket’s upper stage. The fact that our Helix system too played a part in the extraordinary launch event makes us even more proud of what we are achieving together. We are delighted to share with you this unique view of Ariane 6 as it made its impressive debut. #Ariane6 #VA262 #SpaceIndustry #SpaceSurveillance

#Ariane6 powers into space 🚀 Europe's new heavy-lift rocket, Ariane 6, made its #FirstFlight from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana at 16:00 local time on 9 July (21:00 CEST). Ariane 6 is the latest in Europe's Ariane rocket series, taking over from Ariane 5, and featuring a modular and versatile design that can launch missions from low-Earth orbit and farther out into deep space. “With the successful first flight of Ariane 6, the European #SpaceIndustry has moved into a new era,” said Martin Sion, CEO of ArianeGroup. “This historic launch demonstrates the unfailing commitment of our teams and partners, whom I would like to thank warmly for this success, which reflects on the entire European industry. Seeing Europe’s new launcher lift off into space marks the culmination of an outstanding technical and technological adventure, and the beginning of a long history of Ariane 6 operations. The next flight models are already in production and the stages of the second model will be shipped to the Guiana Space Centre this autumn for the first commercial flight of Ariane 6.” This inaugural flight, designated VA262, is a demonstration flight whose aim is to show the capabilities and prowess of Ariane 6 in escaping Earth's gravity and operating in space. Nevertheless, it had several passengers on board. At 21:06 BST, 22:06 CEST, one hour after liftoff, the first set of satellites on board Ariane 6 were released from the upper stage and placed into an orbit 600 km above Earth. Satellites and experiments from various space agencies, companies, research institutes, universities and young professionals were included on this inaugural flight.
