CILCARE is a biotech dedicated to harnessing auditory sciences to reshape the future of care via early diagnosis and targeted treatment. We believe hearing acts as a valuable indicator of our health and must be monitored and preserved accordingly. As awareness of the link between hearing and chronic health conditions grows, auditory sciences are paving the way for the early detection of chronic neurocognitive, inflammatory, and age-related diseases. CILCARE External Innovation supports its partners in the health and life-sciences sector in the development of new therapies to prevent and treat auditory-related diseases including inherited hearing loss, synaptopathy, ototoxicity, sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus. CILCARE Therapeutics has forged a portfolio of proprietary drug candidates and co-developed programs, while pioneering an unprecedented clinical approach to developing compounds targeting cochlear synaptopathy. CILCARE Auditory Analytics aims to position hearing as a key asset of preventive medicine and global healthcare monitoring. We aim to utilize patients' auditory measurements to define digital auditory signatures that will serve to characterize different forms of hearing impairments or other pathologies with precision.

    🌟 Inner Ear Organoids: Exciting in vitro model development showcased at the global Stem Cell Event last week in Hambourg 🌟 Last week at ISSCR, Sylvie Pucheu, Léa Jaillot, Ezeddine Harmouch and Azel Z. from LBN Montpellier University presented their recent work on an Efficient Embryoid-based Method to Improve Generation of Otic Vesicles from Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells. This 3D in vitro strategy aims to better understand the mechanisms of human otic development and test novel regenerative therapies to combat hearing loss and balance impairments. 🔬 Innovation: The research team adapted a protocol to improve embryoid body-based otic induction from hiPSCs, preserving the integrity and viability of cells forming the otic embryoid bodies (OEBs) and otic vesicle-like structures. Using a Sox2-GFP reporter hiPSC line, we tracked the progression from pluripotency to otic progenitors, showing robust otic induction and improved vesicle generation between days 11-60 of cell cultures.     🔬 Cilcare leading the way in cutting-edge cochlear explant research! 🧬 At Cilcare, we are at the forefront of auditory research, utilizing advanced ex vivo models to assess ototoxicity and otoprotection. One of our key areas of expertise is cochlear explant technology. 🧪 Why Cochlear Explants? Cochlear explants provide a robust ex vivo model to evaluate the ototoxic effects and otoprotective properties of various compounds. This technique is instrumental in our efforts to understand and mitigate hearing loss, particularly in the context of ototoxicity induced by medications like cisplatin. 💡 Recent Findings: Our latest research has revealed significant disorganization of cochlear hair cells following cisplatin treatment, observable all along the cochlea tonotopy. We also observed significant decrease of inner and outer hair cell density in the cisplatin group. This disruption highlights the ototoxic impact of cisplatin and underscores the importance of developing protective strategies. 💡 Key Benefits: 🔹 Accurate Assessment of Ototoxicity: We use cochlear explants to precisely evaluate how different compounds affect the cochlea, enabling us to identify potential ototoxic agents early in the drug development process. 🔹Otoprotection Research: Our team also investigates protective strategies against ototoxicity, focusing on cisplatin-induced hearing loss. This research is crucial for developing therapies that can safeguard patients' hearing during essential treatments. Highlight: 👉 Poster Presentation by Azel Zine: We are proud to highlight a poster presentation by Azel Z., Professor at Montpellier University, co-written with Cilcare, showcasing our latest advancements in in vitro auditory research. The poster, titled "Efficient Embryoid-Based Method to Improve Generation of Otic Vesicles from Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells," presents an innovative approach to creating in vitro models of the human inner ear using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). This method enhances the generation of otic vesicles, providing a robust platform for cell therapy and drug testing. 👉 OrgaEar Project Spotlight: Cilcare, in collaboration with the University of Montpellier and with the support of SATT AxLR, is developing an organoid model of the inner ear. Initiated in May 2023, OrgaEar aims to generate cochlear organoids containing neurosensory cells from the human inner ear using human induced pluripotent stem cell technology and 3D cell culture.     📣 Cilcare remporte le Grand Prix du Meilleur Poster aux AFSSI Connexions ! 🏆 Intitulé "Sensorineural hearing loss as a complication of type-2 Diabetes mellitus: evidence of several cellular and neural impairments" et présenté par Sylvie Pucheu, notre poster a montré que la perte auditive neurosensorielle est une complication du diabète de type 2, résultant de plusieurs altérations cellulaires et neuronales. En utilisant un modèle préclinique, nous avons démontré que le diabète entraîne une perte auditive précoce et des changements morphologiques dans la cochlée. Ce modèle pourrait servir à évaluer de nouveaux traitements pour préserver et restaurer l'audition chez les patients diabétiques.
