€500,000 funding. Yes. You read it right. A significant funding for a significant cause. Shaking medical research. Decentralizing science. Repurposing of drugs is simple. It's about reusing drugs that are no longer under commercial license to cure diseases they were not originally intended for and have no cure yet. Sounds like an amazing plan, no? Despite the huge positive impact, repurposing of drugs is not trendy for big pharma. It remains underfunded because it is not profitable. The development and marketing of new drugs cost billions of euros, for a profit to pharmaceutical laboratories over tens of billions of euros. Galeon is funding what big pharma is not. Starting in early April 2024, the campaign is a funding proposal for doctors or scientists who have observed cases of repurposing, in other words, the potential reuse of generic drugs (beyond their licensed uses).
