MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The objectives of the Commonwealth Association of Architects are ‘the advancement of Architecture throughout the Commonwealth and the promotion and acquisition of knowledge of the various arts and sciences connected therewith’. It achieves this by promoting co-operation between National Associations of Architects within the 54 countries of the Commonwealth, and between such organisations and equivalent organisations outside the Commonwealth, with the object of ensuring the maximum contribution by architects to the well-being of society. It promotes and encourages the activities of Member Institutes and Associate members on a regional basis to study issues of common concern and makes awards in recognition of significant contributions to Architecture or its associated sciences.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

The CAA’s main areas of activity related to low GHG are achieved through its validation activity and its programmes of Continuing Professional Development. The CAA is also working closely in collaboration with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Commonwealth Association of Planners and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum, with support from the Rwandan Government and The Prince’s Forum on a Call to Action on Sustainable Urbanisation across the Commonwealth’, home to nearly 50% of the projected increase in the Worlds urban population to 2050. Our interests span the full gambit of activty including policy development, standards and regulations, capacity development, educational and professional standards, etc.
