MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The IEA is an autonomous organisation which works to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 29 member countries and beyond. The IEA has four main areas of focus: energy security, economic development, environmental awareness and engagement worldwide. The IEA promotes energy efficiency policy and technology in buildings, including analysis and recommendations on building envelopes, heating and cooling equipment, and end-use applications such as lighting and appliances. Major publications include the annual Energy Efficiency Market Report and the Energy Technology Perspectives and World Energy Outlook reports, as well as the IEA Technology Roadmap and Policy Pathway series. The IEA also supports the scale-up of energy efficiency activities that generate economy-wide benefits in major emerging economies, including China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand and Ukraine. IEA analysis has led to the development of energy efficiency policy and technology recommendations that identify best-practice and that highlight the opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and policy approaches to realize the full potential for energy efficiency in member countries and beyond.
