Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification that acknowledges continuous progress, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals. It’s awarded to businesses, properties and developments that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions. Through our certification, we can help businesses to strengthen their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and set credible net zero carbon targets that align with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)’s global Net-Zero Standard & the UN Race to Zero. Planet Mark Development Certification requires the measurement and reduction of whole-life carbon emissions, engagement of the supply chain and the inclusion of the local community. In this way, every building from its design through to its operation can combat climate change, support biodiversity and contribute to the society that it serves. Engagement of the supply chain and inclusion of the local community is embedded within the Development Certification, which involves supporting local schools to achieve Planet Mark certification themselves, together with curriculum-linked workshops.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
Planet Mark have been working for over 10 years to help developers reduce whole life carbon in their developments. Across over 100 developments, we have seen an average reduction of over 25%, with reductions in both embodied carbon and operational carbon. Planet Mark have worked with supply chains to ensure all contractors are aware of their influence on reducing carbon. Many of these contractors are also now members of Planet Mark so the whole supply chain has the same values and is working together on the same goal.
Planet Mark have also engaged with over 70 schools and colleges delivering sustainability workshops to educate the younger members of the local community and give them the knowledge to help make an impact in the future.
