The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), through the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project Phase II (ACCEPT II), held the High-Level Policy Dialogues (HLPD) and Regional Workshop in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 25-26 July 2024. Co-organised with with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), the workshop aims to align regional policies towards a low-carbon economy and leverage the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) to decarbonise the ASEAN power sector. H.E. Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, emphasised on Norway’s commitment to support ASEAN's energy transition. H.E. Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Energy and Mines, Lao PDR, remarked that this workshop highlights Lao PDR's role in supporting regional efforts towards a sustainable and low-carbon future. 💡 Out now: The driving forces behind renewable energy consumption: A comprehensive analysis of key determinants and environmental concerns in ASEAN countries Did you know that renewable energy consumption is a key solution to addressing pressing environmental issues in ASEAN, particularly in climate change and air pollution? This study delves into the main factors that influence renewable energy consumption and environmental change in six ASEAN countries, revealing a positive long-term relationship between GDP and renewable energy use. The findings suggest that economic growth is a primary driver of renewable energy adoption in ASEAN. 📍Training Programme for Capacity Building in Electrical Safety Management for New and Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities in the ASEAN Region The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), in collaboration with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation(KESCO), successfully conducted a three-day training programme on capacity building in electrical safety management for New and Renewable Energy (NRE) power generation facilities in the ASEAN region.
