We are so proud of our partnership with Brian. He is an exception, a young entrepreneur willing to take a brave step with us all The Together Academy. What looks easy has taken a leap of faith, luck, a lot of work and a core belief in an inclusive Ireland. Happy Out x Together Academy is the best cafe Ireland. I don’t post here very often but this was too big a moment not to. On Monday, Happy Out x Together Academy was awarded the Best Cafe in Ireland at the Irish Restaurant Awards. A lot of hard work has gone into this and we couldn’t be more delighted to have won it! Huge thank you to therese coveney and all the team at Together Academy for all the work they do in Wanderers and in supporting our TA crew in Dun Laoghaire Baths. A massive thank you to all our staff for all their hard work on the busy days but also on the cold quiet days! I also have to say a huge thank you to Paul Kennedy , Late Bob Hannan and Sarah Clifford from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for taking the chance to allow us try this model of a truly inclusive cafe in the iconic Dun Laoghaire Baths building! All the hard work is paying off!

Stand up and be counted. An inclusive Ireland will not build itself. Let’s all play our part in ensuring that everyone has a place to thrive in their community. With the correct supports so much is possible. It needs time, thought, money and patience but it is so worth the effort. The Together Academy we are only just beginning. Come to our gorgeous training cafe for a team lunch and help us to get our students to trained up and work ready. Open Mon - Thur, 9am - 2pm. Wanderers Rugby Club, 65a Merrion Road, Ballsbridge.

It takes a village. A phrase whitewashed from over use. But do you know what? It’s the truest word anyone will say when talking about diversity and inclusion. We all need to believe in an inclusive Ireland and we all need to roll up our sleeves, stand up and be counted to make it actually happen. So that there is a place for everyone. A huge thank you to NFP, an Aon company (Ireland) for being part of our village and raising much needed funds to ensure a purposeful day for our students. And a better Ireland for all of us. #inclusionmatters. therese coveney Laura O’Neill Edel Lynch Cathy Smith Madeline Regan
What a glorious day! 🏞️😎🚶♂️ Yesterday our team embarked on an expedition to the sprawling, rugged trails of Lugnaquilla Mountain, all in the name of supporting the incredible cause of our chosen charity The Together Academy! It was a fantastic day filled with gorgeous scenery, great conversation and (luckily) amazing weather to go along with it. So far, our hikers have managed to raise a whopping figure of just over €3500, with more donations still rolling in. What an outstanding achievement! ⭐ We'd like to send a huge shoutout to everyone who joined us and took part in the hike and to those who supported The Together Academy through your kind donations. Your generosity and enthusiasm will truly make a difference! 🙌

Together Academy is a love story. Four mums therese coveney Edel Lynch Cathy Smith Laura O’Neill using all of their power, talent, energy and love to create change and grow opportunities, not just for their own young children but for everyone with Down syndrome (Ds) in Ireland. At Together Academy we know the power of positive encounters. Interacting with a person with a disability and seeing just how able they are changes perceptions and creates opportunities. We all agree that the shocking statistic that 90% of adults with Ds are unemployed is unacceptable. We believe that education + skills = opportunities. We all have the right to a purposeful day. Thank you to VAAS and Carla Bass for telling our story with such care. Please support our work by treating your team to lunch at our training cafe in Wanderers Rugby Club Ballsbridge. Just email cafe@togetheracademy.ie and we will take care of the rest. Or you can donate here: https://lnkd.in/eeFMzi8X www.togetheracademy.ie
“90% of adults with Down Syndrome are unemployed in Ireland” Today is #InternationalPayItForwardDay, and here at VAAS, we wanted to give back by working pro-bono with a company and give them a chance to make a difference to their storytelling. To power a story that already had an impact on us 🎥 The Together Academy is an incredible organisation, that has changed the lives of so many young adults in Ireland with Down Syndrome. They see ability and potential, and have built an environment that allows and supports students achieve their goals and live independent lives. Showcased in their partnership with Happy Out Cafe, in The Baths in Dun Laoghaire, they are challenging stereotypes and giving their students the opportunity to show their capabilities and the value they bring to society. As a team we are delighted and feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to meet and work with The Together Academy team, alumni, partners and students to power their message with a video to tell their brilliant story 💛 #TellYourStory #PowerYourBrand #LearnTogether #PayItForward #Inclusivity
