[Insights] The impact of cities on health - from the air we breathe, the sounds we hear, to the space afforded to us - has been a lever for urban transformation since the 20th century. To rethink cities and improve the milieu of city dwellers it's useful to now consider the place occupied by health in our cities as going beyond environment and institution. This new paper published by Egis, by urban planning specialist Morgan Poulizac makes the case for a new dialogue between healthcare professionals urban planners and engineers. #SustainableCities

[Women in Engineering] This year our team celebrated the 11th Annual International Women in Engineering Day, and 105 years since the foundation of the Women in Engineering Society, by attending Ireland's first ever INWED national conference at Trinity College Dublin. The event theme was Empower. Inspire. Engineer. Celebrate. Our own Anne-Marie Conibear joined the first panel of the day, as President of ACEI and as a Director in Egis. Covering topics like the visibility of women in leadership positions, flexibility in the workplace to support retention of women who are in caring positions, and the importance of sponsors, the event was inspirational and motivating for our six team members who attended. Seeing women like Anne-Marie in leadership positions for the organisation and the sector reflects what progress has been achieved, - but also highlights what's yet to do. This was a great event and a key step in advancing the cause for greater diversity - for the benefit of everyone in our society. #diversity #womeninengineering #INWED24

[success story] 👏 Congratulations to Egis in Ireland's Anne-Marie Conibear who, earlier this month, was inducted as a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering. This prestigious honour is a mark of Anne-Marie's significant contribution to the engineering profession in Ireland. Anne-Marie joins the academy of 180 engineers, whose aim is to advance the wellbeing of the country by marshalling the expertise and insights of eminent engineers to provide independent advice to policymakers on matters involving engineering and technology. This important body concerns itself with issues where the members, based on their wide and diverse experience, can make a unique contribution to economic, social and technological development. As we face the systemic challenge represented by climate change, and the need to deliver infrastructure to facilitate population growth and equitable economic development, the academy provides a valuable expert resource to Governments developing policies to respond to these needs. Bravo Anne-Marie.
