🌍 Together, We Can Overcome Any Challenge: Lessons from the Ozone Hole Success 🌍 At Carbonade, we are inspired by humanity's remarkable achievements in addressing environmental crises. In the 1980s, the depletion of the ozone layer posed a significant threat to our planet. This protective shield, which absorbs most of the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation, was thinning at an alarming rate due to the widespread use of CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons). But here’s the remarkable part: we didn’t just acknowledge the problem—we acted on it !!! Governments, scientists, and industries worldwide came together, leading to the landmark Montreal Protocol in 1987. This international treaty aimed to phase out the production and use of ozone-depleting substances. And guess what? It worked. The ozone hole is on a path to recovery, showing us the power of collective action (link to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Ozone Watch below 👇 ). Today, we face another monumental challenge: climate change. There's a lot of skepticism and doubt — can we stop the world from getting hotter? At Carbonade, we believe the answer lies in our past success. If we could mitigate the ozone hole, we can certainly tackle climate change. Here’s how we envision it: 1. Global Cooperation: Just as with the ozone, climate change is a global issue that requires countries to work together, sharing knowledge, resources, and technology. 2. Scientific Innovation: Investing in scientific research and innovative technologies can provide solutions that we may not yet imagine. For example at Carbonade, we are developing a novel electrochemical path to recycle #CO2 and reuse it to produce cost-attractive carbon-based products such as sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) and #emethanol for the shipping industry. 3. Policy and Regulation: Effective policies and regulations, like the Montreal Protocol, can drive meaningful change. Governments need to implement and enforce measures that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 4. Public Awareness and Education: Raising awareness about climate change and its impacts can drive grassroots movements and influence policy. Educating communities on sustainable practices can lead to collective action. Corporate Responsibility: Businesses play a crucial role in mitigating climate change. By adopting sustainable practices and reducing their carbon footprint, they can lead by example and drive industry-wide changes. The skepticism and doubts are understandable, but we have a proven track record of overcoming environmental challenges when we work together. Let’s draw inspiration from our past achievements and unite to combat climate change. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #GlobalCooperation #EnvironmentalSuccess #Innovation https://lnkd.in/dBJgTMNZ

You could read the full Deloitte report on the Israeli #hydrogen ecosystem or jump directly to what they said about Carbonade (p.10) : "... Similarly, we can also find Israeli academic spin-offs that are focused on improving CO2 utilization technologies, such as Carbonade. Carbonade is an early-stage startup, based on novel research from the Weizmann Institute of Science, developing a system that can convert captured CO2 into green fossil-free carbon-based products while consuming low amounts of energy and utilizing a proprietary catalyst based on abundant metals that can maintain performance over long periods of time. Therefore, it offers a solution with relatively low CAPEX and OPEX costs." #greenenergy #saf #sustainableaviationfuel #electrochemistry #innnovation https://lnkd.in/d3aA8F7a
