About us
Our Mission: CDD India is a not-for-profit organization, registered in 2005, that innovates, demonstrates and disseminates decentralized nature-based solutions for the conservation, collection, treatment and reuse of water resources and management of sanitation facilities. Our three-pronged mission includes: - To innovate, demonstrate and disseminate decentralized nature-based solutions for the conservation, collection, treatment and reuse of water resources and management of sanitation facilities. - To deliver technical expertise grounded within the socio-economic context, through consulting, training and capacity building of government and non-government agencies, communities and other stakeholders in the water and sanitation ecosystem. - To be a workplace of choice for talent interested in social and environmental impact. We aim to attract the best talent in the environmental and social impact space and develop future leaders for the ecosystem. Background: One of the many beauties of nature is its self-cleansing ability. Up until a few decades ago, when population sizes were manageable and cities were not bursting at their seams, letting out sewage into our waterbodies was not a dangerous move as the load was enough for nature to naturally cleanse, treating the sewage yet keeping waterbodies (rivers, lakes etc.) clean. With urbanisation and industrialisation, however, as this load has increased, natural processes have gotten disturbed; such that nature’s self-healing capacities can no longer counter the multiple onslaughts (solid waste, industrial pollution, dumping of sewage, commercial fish farming etc.) thrown at it. As a result, our waterbodies are dying (some even burning, literally). The solution lies in the setup on an aid that will take on this extra load and eventually let nature take its natural course. This is our approach for #WastewaterTreatment, #FaecalSludgeManagement and #WaterbodyRejuvenation.
