#IndustryUpdate Tata group has inked a 60-year old agreement with Assam government to build a Rs. 27K crore semiconductor unit in Jagiroad. The unit’s first phase is said to become operational by mid-2025. It is expected that the unit will generate over 30,000 jobs. This centre will empower youths from Northeast by offering them courses in #ArtificialIntelligence, #semiconductors & #electronics and help them in securing jobs in the Jagiroad unit. Subsidies for compound semiconductor fabs are part of the government's program to develop the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in India.
