#ReachingOutwithFM Meet Sumithra, a tenacious advocate of Talani, Renapur, Latur District, Maharashtra, India. In the village of Talani in Renapur, Sumithra had a dream: to bring clean water and represent her community. For 25 years, an influential family controlled the water supply, and they resisted her efforts by throwing stones and burning cattle sheds. But Sumithra didn't give up. She united everyone and formed a Self Help Group (SHG) called Mahila Mandila. They aimed to provide a water connection in every house, but funds were short. Despite insufficient funds under the NITI Aayog's ‘Har Ghar Nal Jal Yojna,’ Sumithra raised rupees 19,400, ultimately amassing 60 lakh rupees. Her success lay in maintaining transparency and earning her community's trust. Initially, some families, especially the men, opposed the women’s group. Later, they felt proud of their family members’ involvement. Sumithra’s determination highlights the incredible outcomes possible when a community unites for a common cause. 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 The Goat Development Program (GDP), launched in 2016-2017 in the Chakan Khed Block of Pune, aims to uplift the lives of underprivileged and small landholder goat rearers. The programme, in collaboration with our NGO partner Yojak and consultant veterinarians, introduces scientific and sustainable goat husbandry practices to improve the economic livelihood of the goat rearers. The GDP covers 15 settlements and includes 375 goat rearers. The health and wellness of 3,730 goats are managed by nine Pashu Sakhis or paraprofessional goat doctors ( trained by the Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Goat and Sheep Development Corporation , Sangli, Maharashtra ), are women from the village. They handle routine medical issues of goats, along with one para-vet, ensuring that every village has immediate access to veterinary care. The goats involved in the GDP are reared meticulously. Emphasis is placed on maintaining the health and quality of the herd. The goats receive regular deworming, vaccinations, and first aid services at nominal costs. Forbes Marshall has been supporting this program for the past seven years. Forbes Marshall organised a self-defence training workshop for its female members, spouses, sisters and adolescent daughters of members at Kasarwadi and Chakan offices. The session was conducted by two amateur martial arts and self defence trainers. The whole approach emphasised on the use of presence of mind as a core strength when faced with unsafe situations. Besides practical self defence skills, techniques for escaping unforeseen circumstances were included, along with tips on understanding one's limitations. Forbes Marshall Partners with ITI Morwadi to Enhance Employability of ITI students In a significant step towards bridging the gap between education and industry requirements, Forbes Marshall has partnered with ITI Morwadi at Pimpri , Pune. This collaboration aims to enhance the employability of ITI graduates through life skill inputs from the industry, ensuring they are industry-ready through an On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. Objectives of the Partnership: ·        Train graduates to perform tasks correctly the first time and achieve quicker output. ·        Ensure the production of quality work. ·        Create a pool of trained technicians. Expected Outcomes: ·        Soft Skills Relevant to Employability ·       An understanding of tools like 5S, Lean concepts, Kanban, FIFO, TPM, ESH, and ISO. ·        Exposure to different departments in the organisation ·        Hands-on experience with operations of machines like Hack Saw, VMC, HMC, and CNC Lathe. ·        Practical knowledge in paint booth operations and shot blasting. ·        Fabrication Shop Activities ·        Training in the inspection processes of finished components to ensure quality. ·        Opportunities for employability through connections with our supply chain partners. After the successful completion of the pilot batch, the valedictory ceremony of the second batch of 65 students ,was conducted at the ITI Morwadi premises. This event marked another milestone in the journey towards creating industry-ready graduates.
