#NHAI achieved a significant milestone with the breakthrough in the construction of tunnel 1 of the twin tunnel project on #Shimla Bypass in #HimachalPradesh. The 705-meter-long 4-lane tunnel will reduce distance between Kaithlighat and Shakral, reducing travel time by around 1.5 hours. Additionally, construction of this tunnel will help to preserve about 5,000 trees in the region that will contribute towards preventing slope erosion. The tunnel will feature ventilation fans, LED lighting, safety devices such as smoke sensors, fire alarms, a sprinkler system and emergency exits for exigencies. Also, a cross-passage tunnel is being constructed between the two tubes to enhance commuter safety. #PragatiKaHighway

Central Railway is reconstructing the Railway Over Bridge for Nashik-bound traffic at Asangaon on NH-3. Due to this development work, the Highway is half-closed. Railways has targeted to complete the new RoB by October 2024 end. During the monsoon season, major traffic congestion is observed at this location. Due to the long-standing of heavy vehicles, some distress/deterioration has been caused to the road as well. #NHAI has requested Central Railway to complete the work of RoB on priority to provide early relief to road users. In the meantime, NHAI is maintaining the road for smooth movement of traffic. However, due to non-stop rainfall in the region for last few days, the maintenance work was not executed in full swing. The inconvenience caused to road users is highly regretted.
