Environmental Specialist for Wind and Solar Projects

Location: Milan or Potenza

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

The Role

Responsibilities

As an Environmental Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our onshore wind farms and solar photovoltaic (PV) plants comply with environmental regulations and standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Environmental Feasibility Assessment: Conduct environmental feasibility assessments for onshore wind farms and solar PV plants.
  • Environmental Analysis: Perform comprehensive environmental analysis for wind and solar PV projects, including:
    • Biodiversity Studies: Assess impacts on fauna and flora.
    • Chiroptera Studies: Evaluate potential effects on bat species.
    • Archaeological and Heritage Assessments: Conduct studies on cultural heritage and archaeological sites.
    • Land Use Plans: Review municipal and regional land use plans.
    • Waste Management: Analyze waste management practices.
    • Environmental Reporting: Prepare environmental reports during construction and operational phases.
  • Documentation Preparation: Develop all Environmental Impact Screening and Assessment (VIA/PUA) documentation for Environmental Impact Assessments, both Regional and .
  • Land Compatibility: Analyze and prepare documentation for land compatibility, reforestation, and agrivoltaic projects, and obtain administrative approvals.
  • Environmental Compensation: Negotiate and agree on environmental compensation measures with relevant administrative bodies.
  • Approval Track Record: Maintain a successful track record of obtaining Environmental Impact Approvals for wind and PV plants.
  • Consultant Liaison: Collaborate with external consultants to support the environmental approval process and technical due diligence.
The Individual

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Education: MSc in Environmental Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
  • Experience: At least two years of professional experience in environmental approvals for wind farms and PV plants.
  • Documentation Preparation: Proven experience in preparing documentation for Environmental Impact Assessment approvals.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS Office, QGIS, ArcGIS, and /regional environmental databases.
  • Attributes: Strong teamwork abilities, independent working style, commitment, creativity, and accuracy.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel as required.
  • : Fluent in Italian and English (C1 level).French is a plus
