The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The IEA Communications and Digital Office (CDO) develops and implements the Agency’s communication strategy across its digital platforms. It is responsible for the production and dissemination of IEA data and analysis, oversees the Agency’s digitalisation strategy, public relations and social media.

The IEA is looking for a digital expert with a track record successfully promoting content and engaging with audiences across platforms. In this job, you will assist in the planning, preparations and scheduling of IEA social media posts that promote the Agency’s rich variety of insightful content on global energy issues. You will support the IEA’s digital community engagement and the Executive Office’s communications priorities.

As part of the IEA’s dynamic Communications and Digital Office in our Paris headquarters, the role reports to the Multimedia Communications Analyst. You’ll work closely and collaboratively across the office – supporting production, promotions and media relations functions – and support team-wide initiatives.

Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit and schedule and update compelling, high-quality content for the IEA’s digital accounts.
  • Promote the IEA’s unique content and amplify messages in a targeted, sustained way across online platforms.
  • Plan and integrate social media and other audience engagement tools as part of the digital engagement strategy.
  • Track conversations, engage with followers, and provide internal support to colleagues on social media best practices and use.
  • Monitor content performance through analytics reporting and social media impact tools, using insights to highlight successes and areas for improvement.
  • Help create new online resources, including newsletters, websites, videos and other tools as needed.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate profile

Academic Background:

  • Post-secondary level of education, preferably at university level in a relevant discipline such as journalism, communications, marketing or equivalent.

Professional Background

  • Experience as a social media editor, multimedia journalist/producer, community manager or a similar role.
  • At the forefront of emerging digital trends, new content and platform opportunities, with an openness to constantly improving digital knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrable experience creating unique and engaging social content for international audiences, preferably in a busy international environment.
  • Knowledge of the global social media landscape and interest in global issues such as energy, economics and international organisations, and how they are covered in the news media and discussed on social networks.
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines.

Tools

  • Excellent knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite, with a focus on Illustrator and Photoshop. After Effects and Premiere Pro would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of social media publishing tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Falcon or similar)
  • Knowledge of online tracking and social listening tools (Talkwalker, Google Analytics, Audiense or similar.)
  • Knowledge of video production and editing tool would be an advantage.

Languages

  • An excellent written and oral command of English; working knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Contract Duration

  • 13 month fixed term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.
