🙌 ELSA-M is in its final phase of In-Orbit Demonstration! We're proud to share the news that we, alongside the UK Space Agency, are continuing to work with Astroscale for the world's first commercial end-of-life service for prepared satellites – these satellites are designed with technologies, such as an interface that will enable docking and removal. 🌍 As part of our Sunrise Partnership Project, a public-private partnership between European Space Agency - ESA and Eutelsat Group, the fourth phase of the demonstration will develop: 🚀 The flight model assembly, 🔧 Integration and testing, 🛰 Launch and commissioning through in-orbit demonstration activities, ♻ and full in-house operations of successfully docking, de-orbiting, and releasing of the Eutelsat OneWeb spacecraft. 📢 NEWS: What’s better than removing a piece of debris? Removing multiple! 🛰️🛰️🛰️ Astroscale UK has signed a €13.95 million contract with Eutelsat OneWeb for the final phase of its ELSA-M in-orbit demonstration - the world's first commercial mission aimed at integrating the circular economy into space. Set to launch during the fiscal year ending in April 2026, ELSA-M will remove multiple retired satellites in a single mission, paving the way for a sustainable space in low Earth orbit. This milestone is part of the Sunrise public-private Partnership Project between European Space Agency - ESA and the Eutelsat Group, with support from the UK Space Agency 🛰️ ELSA-M Phase 4 encompasses flight model assembly, integration, testing, launch, commissioning, in-orbit demonstration activities, and full in-house operations, including docking, de-orbiting, and releasing the Eutelsat OneWeb client spacecraft.
