À propos

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) is a leading diversified natural resources group headquartered in Luxembourg with integrated mining, processing, energy, logistics, and marketing operations. The Group operates in 16 countries and is a major employer in the industry with over 80,000 employees and contractors. ERG's materials help meet the needs of industries and societies across the world and contribute to the green energy transition. ERG is the world's second largest producer of cobalt and leading producer of ferrochrome. It is also a large global supplier of copper and high-grade iron ore. In Eurasia, it is one of the largest suppliers of alumina and is Kazakhstan’s only producer of high-grade aluminium. In Kazakhstan, ERG represents one third of the metals and mining industry. It is also a key power supplier and a large railway operator in Central Asia. In Africa and primarily in the DRC, ERG is a long-term strategic investor. It mines and processes copper and cobalt ore and produces copper metal and cobalt hydroxide. The Group also has its own supply chain on the continent through its logistics company Sabot as well as development projects which are focused on other minerals and products in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Mali. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ERG is focused on adopting a technological leadership position through industry partnerships, with the Kingdom serving as a strategic base for an advanced, high-impact hub to sustainably meet mineral demand. In Brazil, ERG is developing BAMIN, an integrated iron ore mining and logistics project in the State of Bahia. ERG is a founding member of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) dedicated to ensuring an ethical and sustainable global supply chain for the lithium-ion batteries that can power the Fourth Industrial Revolution and a low carbon economy through EVs, renewable energy technologies and smartphones. The GBA has grown to include more than 140 members.

World Environment Day provides an opportunity to recognise the environmental emergency and join the communities, organisations, businesses and countries working together to restore our planet.   By bringing up the Earth’s precious metals and minerals necessary for the energy transition, the mining industry both takes from and gives back to the natural capital. This entails a responsibility for us to pursue a continual improvement in our environmental performance.   I am pleased that Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) is playing its part: we have committed to net zero by 2050 in Kazakhstan, aim to plant around 420,000 trees in Kazakhstan by 2025, and consistently conduct air and water quality monitoring at our operations across Africa and Brazil.   The Global Battery Alliance (GBA), which was co-founded by ERG and is the largest multistakeholder consortium in the energy storage space, has been working to raise the standard of environmental practices along the battery value chain. The adoption of electrics vehicles is key to meeting our decarbonisation goals, and the launch of the Greenhouse Gas Rulebook Version 2 in December and new working groups to develop more sustainability standards, are vital for increasing transparency and sustainability in a critical supply chain.   In the words of the UN Environment Programme, will you join Generation Restoration?    #GenerationRestoration #energytransition #mining

At ERG Africa, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive sustainable development within our communities. 🌍 Yesterday, our team at Frontier held a special event to present ceremonial loincloths (a symbol of respect and gratitude for women in the Congolese culture) honouring 102 women, including members of the widows’ committee, the elderly, and women living with disabilities from the Kabumba, Kaloko, Kimfumpa, Lukangaba Customs, Lukangaba Mashimu, and Sakania communities. Bringing together community members, local government leaders and Frontier employees, the event also served as a platform to discuss the important role women play in steering the sustainable development of our communities. #TeamERG #Community #CommunityEngagement #SustainableDevelopment #Dialogue #Empowerment #WomenInCommunity

In recent weeks, Kazakhstan has been hit by the worst floods in decades. Eurasian Resources Group, which originated in Kazakhstan and operates many of the country’s major strategic enterprises, has committed to assisting with the much needed flood relief efforts. The Group has pledged to donate KZT 500 million to help mitigate the impact of the floods and support the residents of the affected regions. In addition, ERG has also deployed its own specialised equipment to aid relief efforts and I applaud the colleagues from across our operations who have volunteered to provide effective help to local communities. I am pleased to inform that Eurasian Resources Group has signed an agreement with Mechema Chemicals International Corp and Marubeni Corporation to explore the potential supply of cobalt hydroxide (up to 3ktCo per annum), and the production and marketing of cobalt sulfate for the Japanese market. This market is showing a substantial growth in cobalt demand due to a global surge in EV adoption. This agreement underscores ERG’s role as a global cobalt player and the company’s willingness to have a strategic presence in all key battery materials supply chains. Japan is one of the leaders in the production of battery materials and clean energy technologies and the supply of cobalt to its market by ERG will support the green energy transition and the global agenda to reach net zero by 2050. We look forward to working with Marubeni and Mechema on this new opportunity.

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) and Electra Battery Materials Corporation have signed a three-year cobalt supply agreement, which will see ERG delivering 3,000 tonnes per annum of IRA-compliant cobalt to Electra’s refinery north of Toronto.   The cobalt will come from our Metalkol operation in the DRC, one of the largest cobalt producers in the world, and conforms with the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP). Once the refinery in Canada is fully commissioned, it could produce enough cobalt for up to 1.5 million electric vehicles annually. In combination with our Saudi Refinery project, ERG will soon be able to process all of its cobalt production through refineries where the Group has long term partnership agreements. At ERG, we look forward to working with Electra, one of the first companies to localise their upstream supply chain, supporting the industry’s efforts to achieve an entirely integrated battery supply model, as well as helping to power the green energy transition. Thank you to the team at ERG led by Leo Tuzenko for forging this partnership – a great example of cooperation across this critical value chain.

Many compliments to Dmitry Melnikov, ERG's Chief Legal Officer (CLO), who climbed Kilimanjaro last week! Climbing a mountain is no mean feat, but reaching the summit of the highest mountain in Africa is a truly remarkable achievement. Dmitry joined the Group in 2014 and became CLO in 2016, during which he has overseen many team successes and achieved many fantastic accomplishments. In some ways, his expedition is symbolic of the great corporate journey of the Group, as well as Dmitry’s continued loyalty and dedication to the company. It is fitting that ERG’s flag was positioned at the top of the peak considering our many ties to Africa and continued advancements at our assets across the continent. Well done again Dmitry!
