USAID is Advancing Financial Innovation in Moldova! 📲 Last week, USAID Mission Director Jeff Bryan attended the launch of the Instant Payment Grants Program, funded by USAID through the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reform Activity (MISRA). This initiative aims to foster the development of cutting-edge instant payment solutions, leveraging the National Bank of Moldova's newly introduced payment system. The MIA Instant Payments System, operational since March 2024, enables businesses to collect payments via QR codes, payment links, or requests to pay, enhancing transaction speed and security. With over 200,000 active users since its inception, the system's expansion into consumer-to-business payments will transform Moldova's financial landscape, promoting efficiency and innovation in financial services. #USAIDMoldova #MIA4Business #InstantPaymentSolutions #USAID #MISRA #InternationalDevelopment #FinancialInnovation Moldova PRO Reforme

⚡ Moldova’s future is filled with energy! The young people participating in the “Powering Moldova’s Future” Internship Program joined a unique opportunity of visiting a photovoltaic park in Anenii Noi, organized by the Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA), supported by USAID and the British Embassy in Moldova. The interns attended a guided tour of the photovoltaic park and observed the solar panels and associated equipment up close, in order to understand the technical and operational processes of solar energy production. They also met with experts in the field and discussed about the advantages of solar energy, the risks associated with solar panels, but also how profitable it is to own a business in this field. 💡“Powering Moldova’s Future” Internship Program aims to foster a robust and sustainable workforce able to advance Moldova’s clean energy transition and enhance energy security. The program is a six-month, full-time, paid opportunity that places young professionals in leading Moldovan energy institutions. #USAIDMoldova #USAIDProjects #MESA #PoweringMoldovasFuture #YoungProfessionals

The United States, though USAID, is proud to support the advancement of women’s rights and gender equality for a democratic and fair society. During Moldova Women Forum 2024, we recognized the importance of women across Moldova in promoting democratic values and building the country's European future. At the forum, the participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions covering current challenges, women’s economic empowerment and women’s rights, their role in shaping the European future for Moldova, as well as the support for female entrepreneurs in business development. The event included various panel discussions related to current challenges faced by women in politics and business, and a Q&A session with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. Moldova Women Forum was organized by IRI Moldova, with the support of USAID, UN Women, Sweden, EU Delegation in Moldova and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. #USAIDMoldova #USAIDProjects #MoldovaWomenForum2024 IRI Moldova Președinția Republicii Moldova UN Women Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

Renewable energy is a critical component of Moldova's clean and secure energy future. Today, USAID Mission Director Jeff Bryan, along with Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, General Secretary, Adrian Balutel, with support from UKAID , inaugurated a new solar photovoltaic system at the presidential building in Chisinau. These solar panels were purchased and installed with a $100,000 investment from USAID’s Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA). The 62 kilowatt capacity panels are expected to generate 70,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy per year, saving the government over 100,000 Moldovan lei a year in energy costs.  This is part of the USAID’s #MoldovaConectată initiative, focused on advancing Moldova’s physical and market integration with Europe, increasing domestic generation from renewable energy resources, and strengthening Moldova’s overall energy independence.   #USAIDMoldova #MoldovaConectata #USAID #EnergySecurity #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy

Yesterday, USAID, alongside Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Bolea, Chairman of the Moldova Fruct Association, Vitalie Gorincioi, and Gaia Investment SRL, introduced a new Cherry Sorting and Packing Line to Moldovan cherry producers and media. This high-tech system, featuring advanced hydrocooling and grading systems, is set to elevate the quality and export readiness of Moldovan cherries. Thanks to continuous investments from USAID and its partners, Moldova's cherry exports soared to over $22 million in 2023, placing the country among the top 10 cherry exporters globally. This new equipment exemplifies how strategic investments can transform local industries and boost international competitiveness. #USAID is proud to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Moldova Fruct Association, and the private sector to strengthen Moldovan agriculture and expand the geography of exports. #USAIDMoldova #AgricultureInnovation #Moldova #CherryExports #EUMarkets

#USAID believes that the rural areas of Moldova have huge tourism potential, which deserves to be explored and developed in order to transform these communities into real engines of economic growth. 🐎🐎🐎 The town of Grătiesti offers unforgettable experiences that combine Moldovan hospitality, the passion for equestrianism, the beauty of nature and traditional architecture within the Kazak Club Agrotourism Complex. USAID, through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project, contributed to the furnishing of 21 rooms, with an investment of $35,590, the total capacity of the agri-pension being 200 guests.
