Perihal kami
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK), started as a plantation company in 1906 and today, the development of oil palm and rubber remains the Group’s core business. In over 110 years of operations, the Group’s sound management and strategic acquisitions have resulted in over 300,000 hectares of planted area for both crops. Our land bank extends across Malaysia (Peninsula and Sabah), Indonesia (Belitung Island, Sumatra and Kalimantan) and Liberia. KLK ventured into resource-based manufacturing in the 1990s to optimise value across the supply chain by vertically integrating its upstream business with downstream capabilities in oleochemicals, derivatives and specialty chemicals. Today, the Group is a global oleochemical producer with complexes located strategically in Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Europe. Our products are used in diverse end-use application, including home and personal care, pharmaceuticals, food and nutrition, flavours and fragrances, lubricants and industrial chemicals. Property development became another key business as the Group capitalised on its strategic land bank location in Peninsular Malaysia. KLK made its first foray into property development in 1990 through the gated and guarded development of Sierramas, a joint venture with Tan & Tan Developments Bhd. The Group is presently focused on Bandar Seri Coalfields, a 1,001-acre township located in Sungai Buloh, Malaysia.

𝐊𝐋𝐊'𝐬 𝐎𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (“KLK” or “the Group”) wishes to provide an update following the recent allegations of unethical recruitment practices by SOS Manpower Service’s Sub-Agents in Nepal. As this involves various parties and processes, KLK would like to provide some clarity on the matter. 1. KL-Kepong Rubber Products Sdn Bhd (KLKRP)’s appointed agent in Malaysia for recruitment of foreign workers from Nepal is Agency Perkerjaan UKHWAH Sdn Bhd (UKHWAH). 2. UKHWAH has appointed SOS Manpower Service as an agent in the source country to assist with the recruitment of foreign workers. We wish to reiterate that the Group has completed all reimbursement of recruitment and related fees. In compliance with our strict no recruitment fee policy, we do not condone to the action of imposing recruitment and related fees on workers at any stage during the recruitment process. While our internal investigation continues, we have also taken steps to enlist an independent third-party to examine these claims and provide an unbiased assessment. We take all whistleblowing reports seriously and are deeply concerned with this matter. Based on the findings, we are prepared to take all necessary and appropriate actions including possible termination. In addition, all incoming arrivals of foreign workers from Nepal has been temporarily halted while the investigation is ongoing. The Group is committed to comply with all international standards and labour laws, both locally and in the source country, governing recruitment practices, and will take all steps to address any gap and implement corrective measures. Citing the interviewee in the video report published by Sajha Sabal Media on 26 April 2024, “KLKRP has been complying with the Zero Recruitment Fees practices. KLKRP has also informed all its workers to raise this issue if there are cases of workers paying recruitment and related fees. KLKRP has also reimbursed all its workers who have previously paid such fees.” We will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and protecting the rights of our foreign workers.
