We are extremely happy that Design Academy Eindhoven will soon be our new neighbor! The Canal Zone, where the academy will be located, and the adjacent Koelhuis District* are development locations with great potential. They offer permanent space for innovation, creativity, and inspiration. Together, they form a new city entrance and breeding ground for a new generation of talented designers. This will not only benefit the students of DAE but also contribute to the growth of the design ecosystem in the city, retaining talents in the region and creating national and international appeal, while attracting new crowds to Eindhoven.   Congratulations to Design Academy Eindhoven, GEVA Vastgoed and to everyone involved in making these plans a reality! We are excited about the endless possibilities and collaborations that lie ahead. *Koelhuis District Eindhoven is a cultural district centered around immersive experiences (IX), new media art, and contemporary culture. As a cultural district, it offers affordable housing, makerspaces, and large-scale exhibition space. "Building successful Immersive Experience Hubs and strengthening collaboration between them" was the focus of today’s keynote that Arnold van de Water, General Director at Concrete Culture, the organization behind Katoenhuis Rotterdam and Koelhuis Eindhoven, presented at GM Eindhoven. Hosted at the Conference Center High Tech Campus Eindhoven and organized by Metacampus and 3EALITY, this event serves as a platform for exploring how industry leaders and creatives are leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI, the Spatial Internet (Metaverse), Immersive Tech, and Blockchain. 🗨️ “Connecting the creative and tech industries is crucial for addressing major societal challenges in a fast-paced and complex world. Last year, Design Academy Eindhoven's graduates chose Koelhuis as the backdrop for their graduation catalogue photoshoot! Amidst the vast spaces of Koelhuis, each piece found its unique spot in this raw, industrial environment. From the ground floor to the basement, artworks adorned the walls, nestled among the concrete pillars, while others found their place outside, providing a distinctive backdrop to the artworks. Great news for the IX community in the Netherlands-CIIIC has just been signed off! This Dutch National Growth program will greatly contribute to the IX landscape by developing knowledge and tools, building facilities, strengthening the talent pool around IX, and initiating projects that bring together public and private organizations, creators, and users. At Koelhuis Eindhoven, we have dedicated the past four years to developing programs for art and tech communities and creating spaces for IX in the Brainport region. Together with our sister hub, Katoenhuis Rotterdam, we’re looking forward to keeping contributing to an IX ecosystem and facilitate connections in the coming years.
