478 trees turn Desert ➡️ Oasis. Is Mayor Hidalgo an Eco-Warrior? 🐫 🌴 I was thinking. Can Mayor Anne Hidalgo be praised as a (positive / effective) "eco-warrior" for her transformative policies in Paris? 🇫🇷 Here are some key achievements: 🇫🇷 1️⃣ Reduction in Air Pollution: Since taking office in 2014, Hidalgo has overseen a 40% reduction in air pollution in Paris. This significant improvement is a direct result of her aggressive policies aimed at reducing vehicular emissions and promoting cleaner modes of transport. 2️⃣ Cycling Infrastructure: Hidalgo has added 1,300 kilometers of bike lanes, making Paris one of the most bike-friendly cities in Europe. This initiative has not only encouraged more Parisians to cycle but also reduced the reliance on cars, contributing to lower emissions. 3️⃣ Urban Greening: Paris has seen a substantial increase in green spaces under Hidalgo’s tenure. The city has planted thousands of trees and created urban forests, including the transformation of Place de Catalogne into a green oasis with 478 trees. 4️⃣ 15-Minute City Concept: Hidalgo's vision of the "15-minute city" aims to ensure that all essential services are within a 15-minute walk or bike ride from residents' homes. This concept promotes local living, reduces the need for long commutes, and fosters community engagement. 5️⃣ Support for Renewable Energy: Hidalgo has pushed for increased funding and development of renewable energy sources, furthering Paris's commitment to becoming a carbon-neutral city by 2050. Fun fact: 💚 Paris = home to world's largest urban rooftop farm. What you think? #circulareconomy #zerowaste #linkedintopvoices Thanks Lab of Thought for inspiration.

Cars in our cities are like cholesterol in our arteries, silently damaging our health. Car culture leads to millions of deaths and health problems each year, either through accidents or additional harms such as air and noise pollution, a sedentary lifestyle, social isolation, urban heat islands, and many more. If we want to have longer, healthier, and happier lives, we must get rid of this unhealthy car diet. We must take concrete steps to reduce our dependence on cars and transform our urban environments: - Promote mixed-use developments - Improve active and public transportation - Charge drivers the true social-environmental cost (which is much higher than the current motor vehicle tax) P.S. Several people ask me about the visual. I created it using DALL·E.
We do not lack space to make our cities livable, sustainable and human friendly. What we lack is the #imagination and #leadership to make it happen! —Place de Catalogne, #Paris🇫🇷
