Title: Regional Health & Safety Manager, EMEA

Based in The Netherlands, the Regional Health & Safety Manager, EMEA will drive a positive Health & Safety culture and do everything to prevent occurrence of incidents, by ensuring Health & Safety Rules & Regulations are known and applied and records opportunities for improvement and drives and monitors all related follow up actions. This individual will manage controlled development and release of policies, procedures, and work instructions. They will instruct and motivate staff to work according to the agreed guidelines, determine required individual training and certification requirements, and setup and manage a recurring program to comply to these requirements.

Moreover, the Regional Health & Safety Manager, EMEA is responsible for Problem Management, gathering evidence, managing and monitoring internal and external root cause investigations, and assuring that reported problems are handled according to company-wide and local processes and procedures. This individual will support customers in internal or external audits, as initiated, and requested by (potential) customers, keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to (service) quality and execute other special projects/assignments as directed by the EMEA Director of Data Center Operations and Global Director of Safety.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate safety program against client needs and industry standards.
  • Provide oversight of office and field safety programs
  • Conduct portfolio wide audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments, streamline MOP's, SOP's, EOP's, MTA's, H&S drills.
  • Provide input into safety training programs and monitor their implementation for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation / root cause analysis, and incident management, including implementation of lessons learned.
  • Ensure overall log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clients', OSHA, and (local) regional safety regulations.
  • Communicate with Local Regulatory Agencies or similar as needed and files all related paperwork.
  • Monitor and report on key site safety metrics to internal and external teams on a weekly and monthly basis. These portfolio-wide metrics include, but are not limited to, OSHA (or equivalent) log maintenance and filings, SiteDoc or other SMS software compliance, the use of daily activity briefings and associated high risk activity plans (HRAs).
  • Participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings and provide rotating on-site project presence.
  • Provide executive-level presentations on safety on an as needed basis.
  • Evaluate new safety technology and monitor the distribution of safety equipment.
  • Promote and facilitate key safety initiatives per management requests.
  • Manage licenses, training, and setup of safety software.
  • Track and maintain proof of safety certifications and training for employees and contractors.
  • Work with marketing and or vendors to promote safety through different mediums such as video trainings, posters, and promotional items.
  • Travel around 50%; includes some international travel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High personal standards, always looking for higher standards (zero defects).
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA, and other state/local environmental regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in performing incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Average computer competency and experience using MSFT Office tools.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to maintain a professional composure and positive approach in pressured situations.
  • Strong communications, both written and verbal.
  • Proven success leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
  • Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities.
  • Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers.
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to 'getting a job done'.
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Facilities Management, or related field equivalent experience.
  • Candidates holding Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification are highly encouraged to apply.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience required, preferably in data center industry.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Fluent in English.
