🔥 CTRL+ALT+PLAY: The Prototype Event in Technology, Performing Arts and Science is Back! After a groundbreaking edition last year, Innovation:Lab's prototype event, CTRL+ALT+PLAY, is returning! This year, on November 30th, De Paardenkathedraal, De Berenkuil, and De Snijzaal in Utrecht-Oost (Hoefijzerstraat) will once again be the platforms for technology, performing arts, and science. As Theaterkrant wrote last year: “CTRL+ALT+PLAY leaves you hungry and curious for even more space, even more depth.” Yes! We heard you! Working full force on CTRL+ALT+PLAY 2024 Peeking through the scaffolding, we see a more diverse line-up featuring a wide range of genres related to technology, performing arts, and science. The outline of an expert program is emerging, and there will be even more behind-the-scenes insights. Visitors will have the opportunity to become part of the technology, and there will be more continuous programming and ofcourse the unique opportunity to whitness the powerfull connection between Technology and Art. Mutability - June 23 - Holland Festival - Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Created by composer Yannis Kyriakides, audiovisual artist Darien Brito and scenographer and spatial designer Theun Mosk, Mutability breaks away from traditional concert norms. Instead of a typical concert hall, you’ll find an unpredictable space where you walk among twelve soloists on multiple stages and screens. As Kyriakides puts it, it’s "like walking through a forest," but this forest is abstract and full of unexpected music. Using motion capture, Innovation:Lab, has recorded movements and turned them into data, which then can be created into visuals, creating a unique and immersive environment. 🚀✨ Kicking Off Dramaturgy for Devices! ✨🚀 We at Innovation:Lab had the pleasure and honor of hosting the kickoff for the multi-year project, Dramaturgy for Devices! Led by the renowned Maaike Bleeker (Universiteit Utrecht) in collaboration with Marco Rozendaal (TU Delft), this multidisciplinary partnership where the Innovation:LAB is one of the partners includes universities such as Utrecht University, Delft University of Technology, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), and University of Twente. As robots increasingly integrate into our daily lives, aiding in healthcare, home maintenance, education, and workplaces, their need for social skills becomes ever more apparent. In the Dramaturgy for Devices project, we will focus on the social skills of robots supporting people in education, healthcare, and hospitality. This innovative project combines expertise from theatre and technology to enhance robots' social interactions. We’re thrilled to collaborate with esteemed partners like Hotelschool The Hague, robotsindeklas.nl, Heemskerk Innovative Technology BV (HIT), Dalco Robotics and Robovalley. The involvement of theatre and dance makers, such as Ulrike Quade, Anouk van Dijk and Bram Ellens, alongside Theater Utrecht, ICK Dans Amsterdam Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Wintertuin Robot Theatre Lab and the European Lab for Robotics in Art and Theater, will enrich the project with creative insights. Together, we aim to make human-robot interactions more effective, imaginative, and exciting. Theatre provides a fantastic avenue for exploring and envisioning the future of robots.
