This session provided a perfect opportunity to unwind and recharge, leaving everyone feeling revitalised. During this initiative, we promoted well-being with various activities, of encouraging healthy habits and enhancing the overall wellness of our employees. Promoting well-being at work has never been more important 🍎 During our Health Week, we provided a piece of seasonal fruit to all our employees in Portugal, distributing over 2,400 pieces of fruit across all our industrial units. This initiative pleasantly surprised our employees and helped them rediscover the importance of eating fruit. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 "𝗡𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝘀𝘁á 𝗼 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗼" 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. This initiative by the Fundação António Cupertino de Miranda has reached around 40,000 children and youth over the past 11 years. Through our collaboration with the project, we have supported the education of responsible future consumers. We are thrilled to share that "The Cork House" by Polysmiths has received the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀. It is also shortlisted for the 2023 New London Awards and 2024 RIBA Awards! This visionary project, led by Charles Wu, utilised cork material from Amorim Cork Insulation and other sustainable materials available during the pandemic to address multiple contemporary challenges. "The Cork House" not only demonstrates how to effectively utilise infill plots for new homes but also exemplifies adaptable construction methods in response to fast-changing socio-economic landscapes. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲: ➡️ Sustainable Design: The use of cork, a renewable and environmentally friendly material, plays a crucial role in creating a sustainable and efficient building. ➡️ Innovative Layout: The house features three courtyards that bring natural light and ventilation into the interior, creating a bright and airy living space. ➡️ Adaptability: The design responds to planning requirements and site constraints by incorporating split-level interiors, ensuring the home meets regulatory standards while maximising space and comfort. "The Cork House" serves as a comfortable, hidden cocoon amidst the bustling city of East London, seamlessly integrating traditional and sustainable materials in a modern context.
