As the principal of RMI’s Catalytic Climate Capital Program, Benjamin spearheads global efforts to mobilize and scale climate finance for clean energy projects in developing and emerging markets across Asia, Africa, and island nations. He leads the design and delivery of Project Preparation Facilities (PPFs) in partnership with regional funds, securing crucial financing to de-risk and develop clean energy pipelines. Benjamin fosters collaboration with partners and across RMI, working closely with the Climate-Aligned Industries, Third Derivative, and Climate Finance Programs to maximize impact.

Background

Benjamin brings over 15 years of experience leading climate finance initiatives across over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Previously, he served as a senior climate finance expert at E Co., where he managed multi-sectoral teams and secured funding for low-carbon projects.
Benjamin has a strong record of securing funding for climate projects, exceeding US$4 billion across over 40 projects.

He fosters collaboration with national governments, international financial institutions, development institutions, private sector organizations, and NGOs.
Benjamin specializes in designing blended finance structures to unlock private capital for clean energy solutions in developing markets.

He is the current board director of Climate Markets & Investment Association (CMIA), GFANZ advisor on mobilizing capital in emerging markets, active private sector observer for Climate Investment Fund (CIF), and advisor to Private Sector Observer, Green Climate Fund.

He previously seconded to UN High Level Champions.

Beyond his professional work, Benjamin is a passionate environmental advocate who has directed documentaries on climate change.
